Congratulations! You have a god character! ...what now?
Now we get to the nitty gritty of what having an immortal character means and what it doesn’t mean. The main part of roleplay is to have fun! That means you and it means other players.
-- Personas: each god can have up to two. These must be original characters. Canons are excluded from being able to be a persona.
-- Personas need to have characteristics of the god but the point is to remain hidden, therefore, to match your persona up exactly to your god character is extremely foolish. Hitting a nice middle ground is key.
-- The persona does not need to be the same gender as your god, but do take your god’s personality into account.
-- You do not have to have two personas right off the bat but you’ll be harder pressed to hide just one and make curses and blessings counts quickly.
-- you can retcon original characters you already have to be a persona as long as they fit. If they don’t fit? No dice. If you do decide to make one of your existing characters a persona, you’ll need to write out that character’s ‘death’ in game. To the rest of the board, they will appear as if they’ve come out of some massive injury, thankfully. For the rest of the immortals, it will now be your persona.
-- If you have retconned an OC, your godly postcounts start when you’ve assigned that character to that role. You will need to keep track of those numbers. (making a new character is just way easier all around but some of us are fancy)
-- Curveballs: Curveballs are where a god can tamper with an event and are meant to be used as some sort of story progression for the event as a whole. Personal god vendettas are usually saved for curses.
-- A god can post in any event as long as they have one of their own worshipers present. For example, Hermes cannot go post in Nephthys’s temple event if there are no Greeks present. However, if a contingency from Greece happened to be attending that event, Hermes may not like that his people are worshipping a different pantheon. That’s something that would get his attention. He would be able to post there. Otherwise, gods are contained to their respective kingdoms with their respective worshipers.
-- Curveballs happen once an in game month. This means that if you post in the above temple event, for example, but another event is posted in Greece in the same month that Hermes really wants to post in, he’s already used his once a month curveball. He’ll have to wait for a different event.
-- This is a public thing, players are advised to disguise their writing as much as possible.
-- Post Counts: Gods technically need more post counts than any other character. The god account itself needs 3 Each persona needs 2. If a player has 2 personas, this means that that player will need to commit to 7 posts a month.
-- Locations: Where can gods post in the immortal boards? Greeks can post in Olympus and in Arcadia Khemetics can post in the Duat and in Arcadia
-- What is Arcadia? Think of it as ‘no man’s land’, somewhere up in the nebulous heavens. It’s where god characters can mix and mingle, fight or play chess or get up to mischief with each other.
-- Dreams: Gods can send worshipers of their own pantheon dreams.
--Dreams do count towards monthly post counts.
-- Gods are allowed to send two dream visitations per real life month. These can be to the same character if you wish, but in the spirit of fairness, do try to spread the love around.
-- This will be a two-shot thread, the God will send a dream and tag the relevant character, and then the character will have a post to react to the dream and then the thread will be closed.
-- Submit your request to the admin account on the site for the character/player you would like to send a dream to, and then wait until staff gives the go ahead. The gods are meant to be secret, so please, as with all things god related, do not discuss this with your friends who are not gods.
-- The dreams are simply that: dreams. Players are free to ignore them if they choose, or go wild with them if they choose. The god has no real say and the point is it’s just for a bit of fun.
-- Curses and Blessings: A god can bless and curse once their accounts cumulatively reach 100. You do not have to use up your blessings and curses at that specific mark. You can bundle them up and release them intermittently. All curses and blessings must be approved by staff and are released by staff.
-- Take extreme care when choosing a character to curse. The player must be from the god’s own pantheon and the curse must be playable. This curse must be playable and ‘fun’. Make sure you read up on the character you’re intending to curse and tailor the curse to fit the character. Make sure it’s something they can actively use in fun ways and won’t be a burden to play.
-- Blessings are in the same vein. Read up on the character. Sometimes a blessing can sound fun and be basically unusable i.e. Stephanos or Lystra. Stephanos of Mikaelidas’s blessing ‘unfailing seduction’ is basically a god modding power. Lystra of Antonis has Strength of Character which is highly vague and a little bit of a curse for her player who might want to take the character in a different direction.
-- Curses are reversible but the player needs to contact staff. Staff will then work with the god and the player to come to a nice compromise so that the god’s curse isn’t wasted but the player isn’t saddled with something they feel makes their RP experience unbearable.
