Dearest Papa,
Upon opening this letter I shall assume you have been acquainted with its deliverer, Lord Timaeus of Valaoritis. I am sure you have a number of questions concerning the circumstances surrounding this and the rather unusual conveyance of this message, but I entreat you to read it to its end.
Knowing me, and being so perceptive, I am sure you have already ascertained the nature of this missive, which is that I hold feelings for its emissary. Lord Timaeus is a good man, of strong moral character, respected at court and in his home province of Eubocris (which he is Baron of), and is fiercely loyal to the house of Kotas, who have proven to be a great friend to us. But, more importantly, he is thoughtful, kind, and in the brief time we have spent together he has shown me more dedication than any second-rate lord I might have courted in the past.
I am aware of the fact that he is not of royal blood (as I am sure you can tell, Papa, I was not thrilled upon learning this - especially as I mistook him for a Kotas, which I will tell you all about at a later date), but he makes up for it so easily with his eagerness to please. This I found out when for our first outing together he planned a race, and how he rides! I am sure you will be proud to know that I won, but I will admit, it was a narrow victory!
I could go on and on, but I fear that I cannot convey every thought on this piece of parchment. The fact of the matter is that I care deeply for him, and I believe that he is the one. I am not sure that Mama is fully convinced, but as much as I wish for such an advantageous match as Theo or Pia's (considering the circumstances perhaps not Pia's), I am not desirous of an unhappy one. I believe that, if given the chance, Lord Timaeus would do everything in his power to make me happy, and I know in my heart that you would not in good conscience push true love aside.
Please do not give him too much of a hard time.
All my love, Your Nana.
