When Sil leaned over to shush her, Imeeya took his hand and held it. “You do think I’m dying, don’t you? What do we do now?” What was one supposed to do when they were dying? “You’ll have to tell my mother,” she said nodding exaggeratedly and squeezing his hand tighter. “And Essa. Tell Essa that I do love her even though I’m harsh on her. It’s for her own good, she’s just too sweet. She needs someone to look after her.” With that, she set his hand back on the table. If this was dying, she had to admit, it felt pretty good if a bit disorienting.
He said he didn’t want her to be upset, but how could she not be if she was being poisoned? What he said next was absolutely the last thing that she expected. “You put what in the wine?”Imeeya shouted she couldn't believe what she had heard. Imeeya’s thoughts spun to a halt. She hadn’t been poisoned, she’d been drugged. She hadn’t been poisoned. She wasn’t going to die. Suddenly, it was like a weight had been lifted from Imeeya’s chest and she found herself giggling. Then before she could stop it had grown into full blown laughter. She could barely breathe.
“I…..thought I ...was going to…..die.” Imeeya choked out between laughs. Tears started streaming down her face. The whole thing was just completely ridiculous. How had she even ended up in a situation like this? High on poppy in a cheap tavern with Silanos of Valaoritis of all people. If only Asia could see her now. Imeeya was sure that she would be in so much trouble. And yet, there was something absolutely hilarious about how this would look, her and Silanos drinking together. “Who would believe it? You and me drinking together? It’s completely absurd.” Imeeya continued laughing, doubling over onto the table in front of her and laughing into the palms of her hands.

Daxos had returned to his table and sat, keeping an eye on the two. This could easily turn into a nightmare, he had never seen the young lord look so flustered before. Perhaps he had a secret that she knew? Regardless, he did his best to not be bothered with it.
Watching the young lord weasel his way away from the woman's anger was quite entertaining. The soldier took one look at Silanos and could tell he was carefully finding the correct words to defuse her anger and pull sympathy over to his side. Quite impressive. Despite his dislike of the young lord, he could be nothing short of spectacular with words, and it was one thing that Daxos could be jealous of. Lady Luck knows how terrible Daxos could be with words.
It wasn't long before they both glanced over at the soldier. His eyebrow went up in confusion. Why on Gaia are they talking about me? He couldn't make out every word they had said, but he could understand the gist of their conversation. Why did he need a bodyguard? I'm a babysitter.
It didn't take long for Daxos to realize that Silanos was quietly panicking. The soldier shifted in his chair, hand falling to his shortsword, willing to draw it at any moment. Was there someone who entered who could harm the lord? He spun his head around, quickly scanning the surroundings. No. That wasn't it, there weren't many new heads and no one was bothering to look at him.
He looked back over to the young lady and heard her call out, "You put what in the wine?"
Immediately a look of disgust appeared on the face of the soldier. He stood up and marched over to them. He was relieved when he heard the woman start to laugh, but disgust was replaced by disappointment. "Lord Silanos, my lady. Might I ask what has happened?"
He looked down on the young lord with suspicion in his eyes. If Silanos had dared to drug this woman to have his way with her, the soldier didn't know if he could stop himself from hurting him. I'm sure Timaeus wouldn't mind. He waited for Silanos' response before continuing.
He slid up a chair and sat down at the end of the table his eyes boring holes into the man-child, "Lord Silanos, it seems that what is being spoken about is something that shouldn't be spoken about openly correct?" He nodded to both of the nobles before him, "I do hope both of you are enjoying yourself, but as your bodyguard, I would suggest that any sensitive information that should not get out, should not be spoken about at this location. Perhaps a change of scenery would be better?" He could only pick up a few things from their conversation earlier, but they were both straining really hard to keep things as vague as possible.
He turned specifically to the young noblewoman, "And when you wish to leave, my lady, if you do not have an escort, allow me to make sure you get home safely." He bowed his head towards the young lady again before returning his suspicious eyes back towards the man-child.

The Lord had stared at Imeeya as she took a hold of his hand, his alarm growing as she began prattling on about dying. He was shaking his head slowly, but interrupting the torrent of words that was Imeeya of Drakos in full flow was no easy task. Eventually he grew exasperated and demanded her silence, doing his best to explain in a ...roundabout, non sensationalist way. It was not so big a deal after all. Was it?
Silanos muttered a curse when she decided to broadcast the little mix up at the top of her lungs, and he could only be glad that she’d omitted the most incriminating part. Still, he didn’t know if he was ready to laugh about it when she dissolved into fits of giggles. He could still feel the vice of panic squeezing in his chest, and it only relented slightly at Imeeya seemingly finding some humour in the situation. If she was laughing that was a good sign, right? Or she was just that high. Which wasn’t so good.
Sil tried to keep his thoughts straight, finding enough grounding to be more than a little put out at her finding the notion of having a drink with him that amusing. “Absurd? Oh don’t be so hard on yourself” he muttered, but his heart wasn’t really in it. Even less so when the looming figure of Daxos appeared, and the Lord glanced up at him. Fucking great
“Nothing has happened” he was quick to say. “Lady Imeeya had some wine and it has gone to her head a little that is all.” Here he sent a beseeching look at Imeeya, hoping she was not so far gone that she couldn't hold her tongue. And then “Sit down, Daxos.”
He had meant for the soldier to go back to his own table, and sat back, looking disconcerted when instead the man drew up a chair. Oh this couldn’t be good Silanos stared defiantly at the man, only glancing away for a moment as the guard let on that he had heard enough to know at least the uncomfortable subject matter, and thought it better suited for an alternative venue.
It was not a terrible idea, Sil could admit grudgingly. But he really didn’t need Daxos paying enough attention to Imeeya to figure out the truth, if she didn’t drop him in it herself. And almost as if he had read the young lord’s mind, the soldier turned his attention to the Drakos girl, and Silanos barely stopped himself rolling his eyes.
“As if I wouldn’t have seen her home safely myself” he snapped, unappreciative of the suspicion heavy stare that Daxos set upon him. Silanos felt unusually defensive, perhaps keen not to have any further charges laid at his feet coming off the back of Imeeya’s revelations.
He found himself chewing on the edge of his thumb, worrying at the skin there, a nervous habit that he tended to fall into. Gods, please keep your big mouth shut Imeeya. Sil’s eyes slid towards the jug of wine, tempted now just to down it all to drown his sorrows. How could it possibly make anything worse?

Imeeya couldn’t help but giggle as Sil’s bodyguard decided to come over and make his presence known. She was still grinning widely as he added lectured Sil. Sil deserved to be lectured, so Imeeya was enjoying it a great deal. Before Daxos turned to address her, she added a slurred “You tell ‘im.” to the conversation. Imeeya was processing everything Daxos and Sil were saying as if it was being filtered through a dense haze of fog, but she could tell that Daxos was concerned for her safety. She was also glad that they were suggesting that she go home. She was feeling very strange and she would like to be at home instead of here with these two men that she didn’t really know.
Imeeya turned to Daxos, trying to assuage his concerns. “It’s ok. I’m not going to die,” Imeeya found this statement really funny and burst out into peals of laughter. “I thought I was…” Imeeya interjected between peals of laughter. “But I won’t, 'cause it’s not poison.” Imeeya turned to Sil. “Tell him it’s not poison.” Imeeya reached out and put her hand on Sil’s shoulder to encouragingly, smiling widely at him.
It was then that she remembered that both men had suggested walking her home, and she frowned for a moment, looking down before addressing them. “You guys don’t have to argue about who’s going to walk me home.” She grinned broadly. “You can both walk me home!” Imeeya announced brightly as if she had discovered some brilliant solution to the problem at hand. “Come on, let’s go!” Imeeya stood up, but it was as if the floor was shifting underneath her feet. She stumbled backward and found herself sitting on the edge of the table, bringing on yet another fit of laughter at her current predicament.

The soldier could tell that Silanos was uncomfortable by the fact he had decided to stick around at their table. He couldn't blame him. Despite not exactly knowing what the lord put in the wine, he knew that if Daxos wanted to, he could probably cause a serious problem if he spoke to the young lord's older brother.
Daxos smiled at the noblewoman, "Well, I for one am glad that you are not going to die. It would be a shame to have such a beautiful noblewoman such as yourself was taken from this world." It wasn't entirely truthful. He couldn't care less if this woman died, but he knew that formalities were always in order with nobles. All except Silanos. He didn't care to be formal with the man-child.
The soldier turned his suspicious eyes back towards Silanos. I wouldn't trust you with any woman according to the stories I heard, he thought to himself, the corner of his lip pulled up in a grimace. "I do not doubt that you would have Lord Silanos, though, I couldn't allow you to go alone, you know that."
Even though this woman was out of her head, he couldn't help but crack a small smile as she interjected with her brilliant idea. Although this woman was more than likely a noble with no care for the common folk, he couldn't help but find her attitude enjoyable. Not that it was genuine. Whatever the young lord had put in this woman's drink made her lucid.
He smiled at her suggestion, "I think that's a wonderful idea. Lord Silanos, don't you agree?" Each time he spoke to this woman, he had a warm and smiling face, but each time he looked towards Silanos, his warm eyes and smiles were replaced by cold indifference. The corner of his smile kept twitching as he looking into the man-child's face. You're scum, he thought to himself.
That was when she jumped up and lost her footing. Immediately Daxos stood up to catch should she fall forward, but she steadied herself against the table. A quiet sigh from the soldier and another toxic look towards Silanos.
Standing up and replacing his chair, he held out his hand for the noblewoman to take, "Excuse me, my lady, I don't believe we exchanged names. If you would humor me with yours I would appreciate it. My name is Daxos of Eubocris. I would be happy to escort you back to your home." He waited for her response before turning to Silanos, "My lord, has the wine already been paid for? If so, let us be off."

As Silanos worried at the edge of skin against his thumbnail, he supposed he ought to be grateful that the Drakos girl had not just blathered out all of their conversation to the soldier, who seemed to have judged it appropriate to join the conversation. She was still laughing though, making it clear that she was somehow intoxicated, or otherwise a loon. Sil slid a glance at Daxos and wondered if he could convince him of the latter should it be required. The Lord raised a smile at the Lady Imeeya’s request, dutifully repeating “It’s not poison” whilst hoping that one day he would have enough distance to find the hilarity in this whole sorry state of affairs.
Perhaps if Prince Vangelis hadn’t murdered him first.
Silanos wished he could hold onto some of the giddinessthe girl was exhibiting, finding his own high somewhat diminished by the heavy news, and now the dark looks that he was receiving from Daxos, as if the man beleived he had indeed tried to murder the Drakos girl or something equally nefarious.
‘"I think that's a wonderful idea. Lord Silanos, don't you agree?" That brought a roll of the slighly glazed blue eyes and a snort from the Valaoritis Lord. “Oh of course. I can’t think of any two people I would rather take a pleasant stroll with.” One who he couldn’t shake off for anything and who he was beginning to think hated him, and the other who knew more secrets than he would have liked. Come back Threnos, all is forgiven. Silanos shot a look over the taverna to where the merchant’s son had found himself a new seat and thought he would not be so quick to send the man away next time.
But it appeared Lady Imeeya had clearly decided that they were for the off, so Sil pushed to his feet, reaching to steady the blonde woman as she tipped backward, shooting an incredulos look at the guard as he leapt up as if he might catch her. With the haughty arch of a brow that suggested exactly what he thought of that, Silanos moved away from the table, not bothering to reply to the soldier’s impertinent question regarding coin.He did however, have the wherewithall to offer his arm to Lady Imeeya, knowing it would serve him well to keep her close given..everything. “Lady Imeeya? Shall we?”
Assuming that she was..relaxed..enough to forget the fact that she’d smacked him around the face a few minutes ago and also likely thought him a despicable human being, Silanos thought there was a fair chance she would accept his arm. And once outside, he set off in the vague direction of the Drakos manor, thinking a roundabout route might be prudent at this time. He did not want to deliver Lady Imeeya back home in her current condition. Maybe he should have let Daxos take her back, distance himself from the scene of the crime as it was. But what was one more amongst so many? It was a bright and unexpected laugh that burst out of him at that, and Sil turned to look at the blonde girl beside him, leaning in a little so his words were audible to her alone. He seemed to have found some of his oqn equilibrium out in the fresh air.
“You know. If nothing else I feel like I have done you a great favour today in helping you shed some of your innocence, Lady Imeeya. Tell me how it feels? Do you like it? The non poison?”

Imeeya smiled broadly as Daxos praised her suggestion that they should both walk her home. “Yes it is a good idea,” she chimed in although no one had asked her. She took Silanos’s proferred arm before turning back to Daxos to answer his question. “You don’t know who I am?” She laughed at the idea that there was still someone in Colchis that didn’t know her name. “I’m Lady Imeeya of Drakos, at your service,” she did a large mocking bow towards the man. Only her arm on Sil’s that kept her from tumbling over entirely as she bowed forwards.
The trio headed out into the street, her on Silanos’s arm, as they walked towards her home. Something didn’t seem quite right about the direction they were heading. She didn’t think it was the way she had come, but she couldn’t be quite sure. Then Silanos asked about whether or not she was enjoying herself. “It’s not unpleasant,” she had to admit to Sil. It was as if she didn’t have a care in the world, even with her walking through this part of town with two men who she didn’t know. Imeeya giggled at the thought, not bothering to explain the thought to the others. If only Asia could see her now. That thought reined back in her giddy emotions. Asia had warned her against talking to Silanos, maybe she wouldn’t find it so funny. She hadn’t listened to her cousin and maybe she would be angry, though Imeeya couldn’t quite put a finger on why.
There was something important that she needed to remember there and yet her thoughts fled from her like a flock of birds lifting off at something’s approach. She frowned trying to find some focus. Now this feeling, she didn’t like at all. She was so used to being confident and in control of the situation. She was the one who knew what to expect in any given situation and had things all planned out. Now she couldn’t even bring to mind the important details she needed to remember. She stopped suddenly turning to get a better idea of where they were. This street she didn’t remember. “Where are we?” She asked, now distressed. “I just want to go home.” She looked around frantically not sure where she would even go if she were left to her own devices. She looked back at the two men, hoping that they would be able to help with her current predicament.

Daxos smiled warmly at the noblewoman, she was kind of cute, but he wondered if that was just whatever Silanos had put in her drink. He knew most noblewomen were cold and heartless harpies who abused those around them. Unless they were drugged, senile, or strange. Regardless, the soldier bowed his head, "Pleasure to meet you Lady Imeeya. I am but a lowly soldier, I do not know all of the wonderful noblemen and noblewomen of the houses yet. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge."
The soldier knew that flattery and honeyed words were effective at easing the ire of the nobles, and despite the fact that Daxos despised most of the 'elite' class, he knew from experience that being on their good side is a helluva a lot better than being on their bad side. Not that he cared what the man-child thought. He was just another aspect of his job.
Daxos fell quiet and kept a few paces behind them while the noblewoman led them out into the street. He wasn't important. He was a weapon, or a shield, or someone to lean onto when too drunk, but he was not important. He didn't want to interject himself into any of the conversations that they could have, but was glad to find that it was mostly quiet as they began walking.
It wasn't long before the soldier could notice Imeeya's demeanor shift. He shot a glance at Silanos and spoke up, "The way we're heading right now would lead us further into the lower levels. I guess that your home is in the upper levels? Lord Silanos, do you know where her home is? I've rarely explored Midas." He looked at the Valaoritis expectantly. He wasn't prepared to handle a woman on a meltdown at this current time. "And do not worry Lady Imeeya, I'm sure that between the both of us, you'll be safe and sound at home in no time."

Silanos glanced sideways at the Drakos girl as they wandered along the streets of Midas. She was notunattractive he had decided as he took in the wheat gold of her hair, the sharp lines of her face in profile. It was a pity she was so haughty and obviously did not think much of him.
And then he shook himself and turned to look away. He’d gotten himself in enough bother of late not to add to it. At least until the dust had settled and people stopped paying so much godsdamned attention to what he was doing. Never mind the fact that she was cousin to King Vangelis, the very man who apparently wanted to kill him. Fucking excellent.
Still, perhaps he could at least leave her with a memory of today that was more favourable, and so he leant in, spoke close enough that she would feel the warmth of his breath on her ear. And ‘not unpleasant’ was better than ‘you drugged me and I’m going to tell my cousin and have you beheaded’.
His plan to have her walk off the minimal effects of the poppy she’d ingested were rather thrown though, when Lady Imeeya apparently realised that she wasn’t taking the most direct route back to the Drakos manor. With Daxos hovering and being useful, Silanos just threw him a dark look, before turning his full focus on Imeeya, adopting a guilty expression as if she had caught him in a lie. Which she almost had, but just not the one he was going to admit to.
“Aaah, you will forgive me my Lady. I confess, I hoped to ...prolong my time with you by taking a less linear route. I will get you back to your home, I promise.” And hopefully you will be sober and still in good spirits he appended silently, using a slightly bashful smile to drive home his innocent effort to spend more time with the girl. Who hopefully who could just forget her earlier annoyance at him. And Daxos just needed to keep his mouth shut and not distract from Sil’s plan. It was rather imperative for the Lord’s wellbeing that Lady Imeeya did not leave this encounter with anything other than pleasantly fuzzy recollections.
“ Do you want to walk, Lady Imeeya? It is some way, uphill, to the upper levels, and I can't deny that I would be more than happy to escort you on such a leisurely stroll, if you prefer I can send for a carriage?”

Imeeya’s confusion gave way to relief as Daxos explained to her that they were not going towards the upper levels after all. That was why nothing around her looked familiar at all and it was a much better alternative than that the poppy had made her completely lose her mind. Still, that wasn’t the way they were supposed to be going. She only wanted to go home, and have this whole thing over with. “But…” Imeeya objected, trying to find the words to explain that they were going in the wrong objective, but her thoughts refused to form themselves into sentences, at least not quickly enough to prevent Silanos from launching into an explanation of his own.
Imeeya’s look of confusion softened into amazement as Silanos told her that he had been heading in the wrong direction just so he could spend more time with her. She would never have expected to find this man looking so earnest and abashed at this idea. It was flattering to know that perhaps there was someone out there who wanted to spend more time with her after all. Imeeya couldn’t help but smile at the implication. And yet, there was something niggling at the back of her head that she couldn’t quite place that seemed to indicate this was a bad idea.
Imeeya frowned a bit, trying to place the source of this doubt. Just a walk home wasn’t anything improprietous. Not to mention Daxos was right there, that was chaperoned enough if anyone had any questions about the nature of her interaction with Silanos. Not able to figure out why she might consider this a bad idea, Imeeya smiled at Silanos and held out her arm to him. “Then escort away!” She exclaimed with a smile, giggling a bit. It wasn’t often that she got to spend time with men, and rarer still to find that a man might actually be genuinely interested in her. She wasn’t going to let some silly unexplainable doubts ruin this opportunity for her.

Had he not been so invested in saving his own neck, Sil might have been amused by the change in Lady Imeeya’s demeanour as he played his cards. It surprised him a little, if he were honest, for he could hardly imagine the girl did not garner the attention of other suitors. She was not the most beautiful perhaps, but her features weren’t unpleasant at all. It was maybe her demeanour that proved more of a stumbling block? He looked her over as he considered it. Silanos was not one to be easily swayed by a frosty attitude, in fact it rather entertained him to try and thaw it, but there were plenty of others who he could see might be turned off by the Drakos girl’s sharp tongue. Or her dragon of a mother, when he thought about it.
All the more reason to ensure Lady Imeeya had no reason to go back and speak ill of him, he decided. And so the Valaoritis Lord flashed a bright smile full of teeth at the young woman, let her slip her arm through his own and shot a warning glance at the guard who trailed them. This was all looking salvageable and he didn’t need Daxos opening his mouth and ruining it. He’d have to try and sweet talk the man later into not retelling any of this to his brother. It would not go down well with Timaeus even though it had been an entirely accidental occurrence, he was sure, and even though wasn’t usually dissuaded by the risk of his brother’s displeasure, Sil knew he’d pushed the man’s tolerance of late.
It made it an obvious choice then to flatter Lady Imeeya all the more as they continued on their stroll up through the streets of Colchis towards the Drakos Manor. Careful to steer clear of any controversial subject matter, Sil tried to feed her topics that would have doing most of the talking, and he just smiled and nodded and looked as if everything she said was the most interesting thing he had ever heard. Once he let his gaze linger a little too long on her face, and when she paused in her words, he cleared his throat. “Oh I’m sorry. I’m staring and that’s rude. It’s just..I thought your eyes were blue but they aren’t are they? Silver...pretty.”
And when they reached the gates of the imposing place she called home, Sil wondered if pressing a kiss to her cheek would be too much. He eyed Daxos and decided it might be, and instead took Imeeya’s hand within his own and dropped a kiss upon it. “I thank you for the pleasure of your company, Lady Imeeya. The fresh air has brought a bloom to your cheeks that is quite becoming” It absolutely was that, and not the laced wine she’d had. Hoping he had done enough to see her sober and enamoured of his company, the Valaoritis Lord took his leave, thinking the sullen guard might be less easy to sway to his cause. He certainly wouldn’t be offering any kisses there.

It was nice to have someone lavish attention on her. Imeeya didn’t get that very often. While it was likely to do with the fact that she was likely to chase off any suitor before they even had a chance to, this was not a thought that occurred to Imeeya. Her thoughts still clouded from the poppy, she thought of little more than the pleasantness of being walked back to her house by this man. He smiled at her and she could feel her heart melt just a little.
Still, there was something tugging just at the edge of her mind that she was supposed to remember. As they walked, the feeling only grew more intense. There was something important that she just couldn’t recall. As much as she could, she tried to push that feeling aside. She was determined to enjoy this evening as much as possible. They even had an escort, so what could possibly go wrong? Besides, Sil kept bringing up interesting topics of conversation that she couldn’t help but go on about. She hardly had the time to think about what she might be forgetting.
When they finally reached her house, the annoying feeling of something important forgotten tugged at the back of her mind yet again, but that was quickly forgotten. She couldn’t help but smile as he complimented her and kissed her hand. As she walked back into the house, she tried to remember the feel of his lips on her hand. She didn’t want to forget it. Then she remembered what she had been forgetting all of this time. The reason she had begun talking to Silanos in the first place. The betrayal of her cousin and best friend Asia.
The trickster! He had completely played her. Walking her home! Making her enjoy it! When she knew that Silanos was up to no good. He had kissed Asia in public. He could have easily done the same to her if he had been so inclined. Maybe he would have been if his guard wasn’t there. No, it must not have been Asia’s fault at all, not with a charm like that. Imeeya wanted to run after him and accuse him of all of that, but it was too late now. She had escaped this whole thing unscathed. It was best not to draw any further attention to this incident.
