The Constantine Basilica serves as both a forum for political discourse and a sacred space for offerings. Its large, vaulted arches soar high, casting long shadows across the polished floor where the public may gather to debate matters under the gaze of the colossal statues that line the space. The basilica's interior is a blend of splendour and reverence, with high windows that bathe the space in golden light and intricate mosaics of divine figures lining the walls. At one end, an elevated platform — part altar and part tribunal — is the focal point for both ceremonial rites and heated debates. Along the edges, small alcoves house shrines where visitors deposit their offerings to ensure divine favour. There is a palpable and long-lasting sense of hope here that the gods will provide the answers to the conversations raised, so passionate discussion is as frequent as mindless chatter as people gather to discuss that which most impassions them.
