The gentle slopes of Mount Pincius are home to many commoners, whose homes cling to the hillside in terraced rows that surround small central courtyards. Although not as nice as the elegant villas of the nobility, they are not unpleasant residences, decorated with creeping ivy and the occasional olive or fig tree. Narrow paths wind up the incline, lined with communal wells and a few market stalls where the many artisans of Sector VII sell their simple but well-crafted wares. All over the hill, visitors can find gardens open to the public, which house not only local flora and fauna, but are often decorated with plants brought from lands afar by those local merchants lucky enough to travel. For many, it is the only chance they will have to see such exotic fare.
