The Sippar stands as the poorest quarter of Babylon, a harsh and desolate ghetto outside the main city. Here, the cracked and parched earth forms a barren landscape, only to transform into a treacherous, muddy expanse with the onset of rain. A few dilapidated homes are scattered across the arid expanse, built from sun-baked mud bricks. The streets are uneven and riddled with deep ruts that become stagnant pools in the rain. Vegetation is scarce, with only the hardiest of weeds managing to eke out an existence in the dusty ground. The air is thick with a mixture of dust, dirt, and the despair of poverty.
