The young noblewoman’s expression was dreamy as Saro spoke of the sea and how nothing else could compare. She loved the invigorating waters of the Nile, but to see the ocean… it was a dream she’d long held, and a dream she was determined that one day she would see come true. Whether it was with Saro or someone else, it didn’t matter. She would see it become reality.
Those things are within reach, Nia. You need only gather strength to reach out and take them for your own.
How easy that was for a man to say, especially a man without noble blood, without duty or responsibility or burdens to attend to. Of course those things were within reach for him. What else did he have to be beholden to? The daughter of a noble house did not have such options, not so readily. Sure, she could run away and traipse off to the waters, never to be seen again, but at what cost? Deep down, did she really want to be ostracized from her family? And once she was there, what would she do? Cut off from the money that sustained her, the slaves that coddled her, and the luxuries that comforted her, what use would she be? The skills Nia possessed would not necessarily translate well to a life at sea, unless she wished to sell her charms to the sailors, but a noble girl turned prostitute? Even she had her pride, as meager as it was. Was that truly the life she wanted to live?
But all of this, she kept silent, merely returning Saro’s kiss with a playful swipe of her tongue between his lips. The logistics of reality didn’t matter, not tonight, not wrapped up in a handsome stranger’s arms who whispered sweet promises and filled her head with fantasy. Perhaps they might matter more later, but she’d take that as it came. This night, like so many of her nights, was about pleasure, and pleasure alone. The rest could be dealt with another time.
Nia’s face lit up when he answered in the affirmative about taking her to the ship, nearly bouncing off his lap in her eagerness. Having spent much of her life in the port, boats shouldn’t excite her as much as they did, but it wasn’t like she’d ever spent much time on any of them. Such business was saved for her father and her brother, even her older sister, but never for her. Never the irresponsible daughter with a penchant for mischief; she couldn’t be trusted aboard any of the ships bearing Sheifa colors. Not if they actually wanted their ventures to succeed.
She tucked her arm within Saro’s with a bright smile as they started making their way from the brothel and back to the port, her step spritely and eager. It was a short walk, and their feet ate the distance quickly, the port much quieter than it had been before they left. “We’ll have the ship all to ourselves, you say?” she inquired with a suggestive tilt of her brow, looking up into the handsome sailor’s face with a grin on her own. They were almost to the docks by then, her pace slowing as they approached the dormant vessels. Pressing in closer, her lips brushed his neck, nibbling right below his ear. “My, my, whatever shall we do with so much freedom, hm?”

They were almost to the docks by then, her pace slowing as they approached the dormant vessels. Pressing in closer, her lips brushed his neck, nibbling right below his ear. “My, my, whatever shall we do with so much freedom, hm?”
He laughed as she nearly bounced off his lap, her excitement clear, he couldn’t help but be entertained by her enthusiasm at the mere idea of even stepping foot on a ship. The concept was foreign to Saro, sure he loved his ship, he loved to be out on the open water on it, but the pure joy that reflected on her face at the thought of being on a ship docked at port was entertaining to him. There was nothing particularly exciting about a docked ship in his mind, but he supposed it was a novelty for someone like her, he didn’t imagine she had spent much time on ships, and especially not ones that were sailing.
Saro walked with her on his arm, towards the docks where his ship could be seen, gently bobbing in the waters at the port. It wasn’t anything particularly fancy, but it did the trick. It had seen years of combat and raids, much blood had been spilled on her decks, most of it coming from those who dared stand up to the crew and fight. Though none of that was obvious, she was in great condition, the decks cleaned of any signs of death. It looked like just a normal ship, nothing suspicious about it other than its lack of flags representing a realm or group, and it’s clear lack of cargo or purpose at the port.
He grinned as she teased him, her lips on his neck before her sweet voice was in his ear.
“I am certain we will find a way to keep ourselves occupied.” He said as they approached the ship. He held a hand out, offering for her to take it and steady herself as she made her way up the ramp and onto the ship, he followed quickly behind her.
To his surprise, a crew member was still on board, and he came quickly scrambling up to the top deck, sword in hand, calling out as he moved.
“Make yerself known!”
Saro laughed a little, shaking his head. Of course, they had left him on the ship, it was their newest crew member, a young boy of no older than fifteen. He looked terrified and awkward holding the sword as he worried about potentially facing a foe.
“Put the sword down before you hurt yourself.” He called out, and the kid looked relieved to see it was just Saro, and then his eyes went to Nia and he could almost see his jaw drop to the floor. Saro snickered and reached into his pocket, tossing the kid a couple coins.
“Make yourself scarce for the night. Go enjoy a drink and some whores.” He said, and the kid quickly collected the coins from where they had landed on the deck, thanking Saro as he hurried off. Saro looked at Nia and gave her a charming grin.
“Now that we’re alone, I believe you wanted a tour of the ship?” He asked, giving her a mischievous look.

At first, the sound of another’s voice made Nia grasp tighter onto Saro’s arm, scared they had immediately walked into some sort of trouble. However, upon seeing their potential quarry, the young noblewoman relaxed as a smile tugged at her lips. It was only a scrawny boy, the sword in his grasp trembling as he stood to face them down. He was so small, she thought she even she could take him, if it came to it, but it clearly became apparent there would be no need. It seemed he was a member of Saro’s crew, albeit a young one, and it didn’t take much more than a word from her companion to send the lad on his way.
“Well, that was easy,” she commented with a chuckle, leaning into Saro’s grasp with a lazy grin. Her lips moved along the warm flesh of his neck while her arm found its way around his waist, cldearly distracted as she listened to him speak with half an ear.
“Ah, yes, a tour of the ship,” she agreed with a quick clear of her throat, even as her hand dipped a little lower into more risqué territory. The look Nia gave him was innocent as could be, but the smoldering warmth behind it was anything but. A tour of the ship would be lovely, yes, but it was rather obvious where she hoped that tour would end. Somehow, with that mischievous look in his eye, she doubted Saro’s intent was any different.
“After you,” she insisted, gesturing with her free hand for him to lead the way.
Meanwhile, her other hand was idly stroking over whatever bared flesh it could find, nuzzling and kissing along his neck and jaw even as they walked. She barely saw the ship they were meant to be touring, far too preoccupied by the feel of heated skin beneath her fingertips and the vaguely salty taste of his neck beneath teasing flicks of her tongue.
“You know, the tour of the ship can always come after,” she playfully suggested after a few moments had passed, grasping at his hip to pull herself in closer. Her mouth briefly whispered over his, nipping gently at his lower lip before pulling back to gently nudge her nose against his. Her voice was low and sultry when she added, “At the moment, I find I’m a bit more interested in seeing the Captain’s quarters, if you catch my drift.”

He grinned when she commented on how easy it had been to get rid of the young kid.
“That kid won’t last long. The seas will swallow him, or he will run with his tail between his legs like a dog.” He said with a laugh, which was true. He was pathetic in Saro’s eyes, a young kid with some dreams of being a famous pirate. In truth the boy had proved almost useless thus far, and if he did not ditch the crew, odd were he would be tossed over board and left to the sea at some point.
He grinned as her hand dipped lower, and he planned on capitalizing on her current mood. He wasn’t about to waste time and risk someone or something coming along and ruining it for him. He began to give her a tour, planning on making it a short one, but before they could even get very far into the ship, she was suggesting otherwise and Saro smirked. She wasted no time in getting what she wanted.
“A woman after my own heart.” He said, he moved to pick her up, helping her wrap her legs around him as he carried her towards the Captain’s quarters. He made quick work of opening the door, slamming it shut behind him before he tossed her on the bed, quickly climbing over top of her. If she was being direct with what she wanted, he saw no reason not to give it to her. No need for either of them to beat around the bush.
Clothes were quickly shed, tossed without care through the room as the two of them got straight to the real reason they had come back to his ship. The sounds of their passion filled the night air, and he did not hold back, not caring if anyone was around to hear them. That night the two of them were the only two people in the world in Saro’s mind, and his focus was completely on the woman he lay with.
Come morning, he did not know what would happen, but that night was what mattered in the moment.
