Fotios might have been controlling the intimate exchange between them but in the moments when Xene's desire and confidence was at its peak and leading her actions, he permitted her dominance and became submissive - even retreating in his touch and attentions. It was a careful game of power. When she was eager but unsure, he took the reins and pushed her just a little. When she was confidence and more demanding, he inches away and denied her just a little. A tempting game of give and take.
When he parted the kiss in order to speak, her soft mewing little whine made clear her distaste for their parting, assuring him on her drunken yielding to the seduction of their tangled mouths. When he asked her of her experience and apologised to him, Fotios faked a widening of his eyes in surprise and offered an almost comedic moan of pain and concern. His eyes, however, of brightest blue were teasing.
"Do not apologise, princess." He told her between the kisses and touches she claimed from his mouth over and again. "You innocence is both commendable and a torment upon my masculine needs." He closed his eyes as she leaned her body in, her scent filling his head and her thigh pressing up against his aroused flesh. When he spoke again he was more breathless, her suggestion of him teaching her ringing in his ears.
"Do not tempt me to teach you all that a woman can learn of a man here in this room, matia mou." He seemed to beg. "But if you are so determined to learn then my heart and body could not forbid it."
Detaching himself from her touch, his hands coming to her shoulders, his breathing heavy and his desire spiked by the way her lips appeared lushly swollen and her cheeks flaring with heated colour, Fotios acted as if stepping away from her was torment in and of itself.
"We must end this now whilst I still have control of my senses." His eyes flickered to the door, beyond which Xene's guard and lady's maid likely waited.
As he took another step back, his hands drifting down her arms from shoulder to fingertips, Fotios's breathing steadily came back to normal.
"I doubt I shall have much time to avoid certain gazes between now and my niece's wedding." He told her, swallowing in a manner to clearly get his voice back under control. "But... If your mind is not changed between now and then, I look forward to us... meeting again perhaps after the nuptials?"
It was just under ten days until the wedding. It would be enough to allow Xene to crave his company without being too long and cooling her desirous flame... He hoped.

Xene did not like this parting of bodies, or flips, of flesh and fingertips. There was something about the distance that made her head spin and her heartache. But she had to remind herself that even in this room, in such a private location, with only her most trusted lady-in-waiting and Heron, her guard, outside, there was not so much privacy as expected. It was the best moment in which to decide to break off from one another if only to keep this from going further than either of them were comfortable with at this location.
"I want to learn," she admitted in a whisper when he pulled back far enough to put some proper distance between them. Having been so entirely wrapped up in his body and his touch, she had to blink the desire from her gaze, from her mind. There would be a time and a place, she hoped, but that would not be here in the school.
Xene had the mind to flush at the silent reminder of what they had just been doing in this room, heat spreading along her cheeks in slight embarrassment of her loss of control. That seemed to be a running theme between herself and Lord Fotios, but now that the two of them had admitted wants and certain desires, Xene was not keen on going back on her word. This experience was one of the most worthwhile that she had ever withstood in the entirety of her life. The exploration of his mouth and body had only twisted her mind toward deeper shores and lines that, once crossed, she could never cross back over.
Was she ashamed? Not at all. The princess loved this man, and however, he had come to be so deeply rooted within her heart didn't truly matter in that moment. All that mattered was that there was a quiet promise of this not being the one and only time that they met like this.
"I find myself in a similar situation, as cousin to the groom," Xene said very softly, "I have been tasked with the running of the celebration after the nuptials," the princess said very slowly, "I am afraid my focus must be there... and if I am distracted by this..." her own fingertips grazed down his chest, working slightly against the fabric as if she were debating going back on her own word. Then her hands pulled away as if she would not be able to control herself if she continued, "Then I fear what the party might look like, and I do not wish to disappoint my dear cousin on the biggest day of his life," Xene added, swallowing slightly and breathing out slowly. This time, she put true distance between the two of them.
Stepping back and pulling her hands from his body, she gazed up into his face for a long moment. The loss of the connection after having one so warm and passionate just moments earlier left her feeling a little hollow. But the princess gave her forbidden lover a tender smile and stepped around him to reach for her peplos, bring it around her shoulders to keep her warm on the trek back toward the Palati. Her fingers gathered her music, written on the best papyrus that money could buy, and pulled the sheets against her chest. With her back to him, she took a moment to compose herself, readying for that moment in which she stepped back into the hallway.
Turning back toward Fotios, Xene approached him from the side, leaning up and brushing her lips against his cheek in something far more gentle and meaningful than their previous kisses. "I must go," she said softly, "Write to me, if you've not forgotten how," the princess teased gently before pulling fully away and moving toward the door. Pausing to cast one last glance back at him, Xene reached for the handle, pulled the door open, and slipped out into the hallway, flanked by her guard and lady as she made her way out of the scholeio and onto the streets of Vasiliadon.
