Nic let out a faint snort when Persephone rejected her sister’s desire to go shopping. “Or perhaps I won’t.” He said with an impish grin neither of the princesses could see, though the driver’s shoulders shook as he turned his bark of laughter into a cough.
Lifting his voice again to ensure he could be heart. “Of course your highness. I’ll take care of it as soon as we get back.”
And true to his work, Nic did just that before he headed back to his private rooms in the barracks. Setting down Persephone’s gift basket, and shedding his armor, Nic collapsed face first across the bed, sighing in relief in a bed that didn't move beneath him. Within moments he was sound asleep.
