The whole of the Leventi estate that Olympia and her family lived in seemed to thrum with excitement. It was hard for Olympia to avoid a little excitement of her own. Ever-curious and taking advantage of the fact that she was supposed to be sleeping, she knew that the night could be almost anything she could imagine. The house, barring the places with her parents and other adults, was hers to explore. It was almost a dream come true.
No more Mother worrying about her getting into trouble and ruining her reputation, no more Father concerned that she will fall and accidentally hurt herself, and especially no more boring house servants trailing her just because Mother, or maybe Father, told them to.
It had been relatively easy to sneak out of her own bedroom and into Nana's, since the servant assigned to watching the children was fussing with Imma more often than not. Perhaps the baby did have some uses after all. She'd stuffed some of her clothes to make a representation of her body shape and cover up her escape.
Olympia had been fairly quiet in her reasoning for getting Nana to follow her, assuming that since she was older and knew more (obviously) Nana would understand how to sneak about the house with her.
Her parents and older sisters were busy entertaining some guests while she and Nana had been forced to go to bed early. It was hardly fair. To Nana, maybe, and the party was definitely not for Imma, but Olympia and Theodora were only a year apart! Naturally, something had to be done, and Olympia had enlisted the help of her second-youngest sister to see what they could do while the adults were distracted.
Olympia peeked into the kitchen. Busy servants and slaves worked away over a variety of meals while simultaneously managing to keep a flow of drinks out of the kitchen as well as cleaning dishes. To Olympia, it was a wonder. There were several instances where they could've easily tripped up, thrown all of the food on the ground by mistake or broken a dish. And yet everything seemed to come together in a way she never would have expected.
"It seems as though they're all still busy." Olympia said, though never in her eleven years had she bothered to be in the kitchen during a party. She also did not have a very keen grasp on what it was servants and slaves did, other than knowing that occasionally they brought sweets, something Olympia was always very pleased with.
She looked at Nana, having dragged her sister with her regardless of how tired Nana might be. "Now, please, Nana, think about something that Mother and Father would never want us to do. Ever."
Olympia had originally intended to make a passionate speech to her sister detailing the many things that they could get into while everyone seemed distracted, only for a servant to swing around the corner. Olympia quickly pulled Nana and herself out of sight of the servant and took a deep breath.
"Quickly, if you can. And nothing that is too ridiculous!" Olympia stated, as though she were the expert on pulling off mischievous adventures of any sort.
