There was a calm, walking through the usually packed streets of Vasiliádon first thing in the morning. More often than not, the only people who were up this early were the slaves, completing errands for masters who were still sound asleep in their beds. The eldest Leventi often cherished the first light of the morning, for moments of quiet before the world decided to ruin the calm. She appreciated the beauty in all things, not at all minding an hour or two of lost sleep to have a bit of peace in her sometimes hectic life. It was on days like this, where the dew was still wet on the leaves, that Selene would quickly dress, have her hair braided for simplicity to allow for a quicker exist. The walk from the house to the temple was one she made often. Even before the races, the streets were quiet.
Her duty was to give thanks to the goddess who had looked upon her with favor.
The blonde was dressed in a pale yellow chiton, the gold on her wrists adorned with swans to honor the Goddess she was going to worship. She carried a pomegranate in the hidden pocket of her cloak, an offering to leave. The sun was just peaking above the trees by the time she left the house, guard in tow for protection. The walk was silent, knowing that she didn't dare speak with him in case he would consider it her showing him favor. The last thing she wanted was to give him a reason to think that she preferred him. While she trusted him, she didn't want to give him the wrong impression either. After this, they would head to the Circus for the last day of the festival.
Selene used the silent time to think about what had happened recently. The new of the engagement of her sister weighed heavily on her mind.People thought she was empty-headed, that she didn't care about anythingother than her looks or her station. But her sister's blight genuinely concerned her. The woman had hoped that she would get to marry for both love and title. And it seemed like she was going to get to, until she realized that the wrong brother was the one who would win her hand. Would she be happy with the wrong brother? Could she keep up the facade?
And what about the rumors of the storm? What would that mean for her own potential marriage?
She didn't want to focus on who her uncle could be considering. Her father would have at least found someone who would be kind to her. But for her uncle, it wouldn't matter. He didn't care about the disposition of the man who she would marry. Selene had hoped that she would at least be wed to someone who would show her compassion. The thought of marrying a potentially abusive man didn't sit well with her. It was one of the reasons she was making a grander effort pray to Aphrodite. She was said to be blessed by the goddess herself, a protector of love and beauty. Perhaps, with her guidance and care, Selene would find herself in a marriage she could find true happiness in. She didn't need love, but she could pray for it anyway, right?
The guard stayed out of the temple, allowing her some privacy in her morning devotion. It was empty, but that wasn't a surprise this early in the morning. The worshippers of the goddess usually believed that sleep brought beauty, so they tended to rise far later. She gently hummed a melody as she approached the statue in the middle, her song one of sweet praise and glory to the beautiful goddess. The pomegranate was gingerly removed from her pocket, passing from hand to hand before it was placed at the feet of the goddess. Head bent, she began her invocation, the words no more than a whisper for the ears of the goddess alone.
"Goddess of Beauty, teach me to bring pleasure into my home with objects of remarkable beauty. I join you in taking delight in the success and accomplishments of others. Show me how to release the limits I impose on myself. Great Goddess, I rejoice with you in all acts of pleasure and love. May you guide those close to me with a loving hand as they decide my fate." She repeated it, both out loud and silently, praying specifically for the peace of mind that a good match could bring. She didn't hear a soft footfall behind her, her mind deep in prayer as her solitude was broken.

As a foolish lover of love and a staunch believer in the sanctity of marriage and relationships, it would've been a waste had Emilia came all the way to Taengea for the festival, and not make a visit to the famed Naós of Aphrodite. One of the reasons why she had asked Persephone if she could represent their house to the festival of Dionysus had partially been because she knew of the deities temple that resided in Vasiliadon, and as such made a special request to her retainers and handmaidens to make a trip in the morning, just before their carriage was to take off to return to Athenia where Persephone would no doubt be waiting.
Of course, Persephone was another reason why Emilia was visiting.
While Emilia was not privy to Persephone's private matters when it comes to Senate and the motion her father had proposed which they fought for, she wanted nothing but the best for her sister. When other's whispered on the best solution being a political marriage to ensure ascension, Emilia had flinched. She as one who believed in love matches, balked at the idea of her sister's political union, beneficial as it may be to their family and their kingdom. Persephone had been whispered to be blessed by Aphrodite, and even Emilia herself. The younger Xanthos daughter was nowhere near as poised and beautiful as her elder sister, but that didn't mean she was no beauty.
But her visit to the Naos today was nay about her. Today, Emilia was here to give thanks, and also to see if perhaps Aphrodite could do something about Persephone's situation.
Dressed in her absolute best chiton of blush pink, the color of the blush pink, it was held up around her waist by a woven gold belt, and her feet were protected by sandals as she alighted from the carriage, helped down by her retainers. Motioning for them to stay (for the way up can be observed by her guard, so they could ensure she stayed out of harms' way), Emilia made her ascend upwards, making sure to not crush the single stalk of red rose she held in her fingers, her offering for the goddess of Love today.
To her surprise however, despite the early hour of her arrival (for she had intended to visit just before the scheduled chariots race at the Circus later in the day), Emilia drew to a stop when she saw two burly guards standing at the entrance to the temple. The soft wind flitted with her loose, naturally brunette curls as Emilia stared in surprise, until the two guards noticed her presence. "Step aside, for the Princess of Athenia." her haughty personal handmaiden announced. Emilia hid a smile, amused at the proud attitude that Helen displayed. Her handmaiden had always been proud of her position, and it showed each time she announced Emilia's arrival.
Bowing her head (for she was respectful, even if mildly proud of her position) as she entered, Emilia ensured her steps were silent when she noticed the bent golden head of the one who had came before her. Motioning for Helen to remain outside, Emilia had intented to respectfully keep her silence while the previous comer to finish their prayers. However, luck was not on her side today, when a slip of her fingers made the apple she had been holding tumble down, and before Emilia could stop it, the red fruit rolled down towards the female's feet, stopping right at her toes.

Selene had vaguely heard a bit of a commotion behind her, but didn't think it had anything to directly do with her. It was far more important for her to finish her prayers and allow her guard to make an assessment so that she could focus. She hadn't had a reason to think that the noise would be associated with the temple, not at this time in the morning. Perhaps a slave had simply disobeyed an owner, or something like that.
It wasn't until the loud 'thunk' of the apple that her attention was truly drawn from her prayers, her head shooting up just in time to see the apple gently touch her sandaled feet. She blinked for a moment, bending down to pick up the fruit before her eyes rose to see who else was coming to pay homage to the goddess. The girl was young, but it wasn't uncommon for the young to come into the temple, praying for good marriages or for skilled lovers. It wasn't her age that was causing her pause. No, it was the way she held herself, the curls on her head matched with the sweet smile and fine chiton.
She briefly remembered meeting the Princess during the festival, but she couldn't remember after the copious amount of wine if they had been formally introduced. Her knees dipped into a gentle curtsy, head bowed low in respect of her station. "Princess Emilia." She stood, giving the young girl a gentle smile. "I am most pleased to finally meet you. My sister has not been able to stop speaking about you." She held out her hand with the apple, "My name is Selene of Leventi, and I am most honored to meet you."
Nana hadn't been able to stop talking about the meeting, everything from the color of the young princesses dress to the way her hair had perfect curled.

Being it had been her first day in Taengea upon her arrival at the festival and at the Leventi household party, Emilia had been caught up with the light and festivities of it all that she could scarcely remember who she met, or whether there had been a formal introduction or not. Be that as it may however, the sixteen year old princess did remember seeing this flaxen haired beauty, even if they were not officially introuced. Emilia was hard pressed to forget such striking features, and would've said they were almost comparable to her sister's Persephone's grace and poise, had Emilia not been so biasly loyal to her elder sister.
Despite that she bent into a light curtsy, manners making her movements respectful as she took the apple offered by the blonde girl who had introduced herself as Selene.
A smile graced her lips as Emilia waved off a haughty looking Helen who was cautiously eyeing the female noble, before Emilia turned her hazel brown eyes back to the other. "The pleasure is mine, Lady Selene. Apologies for the behaviour of my lady's maid, she can be a tad bit... overprotective." So Emilia knew what she said was an underestimation of Helen's degree of guard-dog-like tendencies when it came to Emilia, but she held a degree of love for her lady's maid, and as such usually waved her off with a gentle chide. She's tried many ways to get Helen to back off, but to no avail afterall.
"I truly enjoyed the party that Lady Evelli was gracious enough to host, and the festivities have been delightful." Emilia commented lightly, the soft smile never leaving her lips. The young princess truly had enjoyed the party, although she had to leave earlier in order to get to the quarters her sister had prepared for her ahead of time. "I do hope you've been enjoying the festivities of your beautiful kingdom. I am excited to attend the festivities at the Circus today."
Well, at least Persephone's warnings to carry herself well as befitting of a princess was paying off.

The lady looked at the maid, knowing exactly what the princess was talking about. Her own could be a bit overbearing when others wanted to press her for her attention. At any event, they usually played interference so that she was bothered by people she did not wish to speak to. They were so active at night, she tended to let them sleep when she was off to her morning prayers. "It's always good to have a protective maid you can trust. They always have the best of intentions." She took no real offense to her actions. "She must be perfect when you want to sneak away." Her sister's had a signal in which they were able to use each others from parties and such.
Selene smiled, "My mother certainly knows how to throw a party, one that Dionysus would have been honored to be a part of. If she ever throws a lackluster party, her physical health should be checked for something would be amiss!" The parties thrown by the Leventi house were legendary in many ways. Part of the desire to better the family included making sure that it was most obvious to those who might marry into the family was that they were be the best of hostesses. The Leventi girls would be fine wives, if their gatherings had anything to say about it.
"I should be asking you the same question, princess." Her eyes were bright, the joy apparent in her demeanor. "This is once of my favorite festivals to attend, so I may be a bit partial. I've always wanted to see the kind of festivities Athenia can put on." Maybe one day, her father would take her to other kingdoms, or perhaps her husband would. She had a desire to see the world, to know what else was out there. But, unlike the men of the world, she would have to wait until she was important enough to be able to do just that. "The races will certainly be the highlight, I’m sure!" Perhaps the temple wasn't the best place to have this conversation, but she certainly was curious.

Emilia could relate to Selene, for her own retainers were very active. Helen led them all in a way that would put the general of an army to shame, so while the rest of them were readying her reticule and travel articles so they can have an early start to travel home the day after the chariots, her lady's maid had insisted she come along for Emilia's final jaunt in Taengea before their scheduled carriage ride to the circus. Chuckling, Emilia nodded in affirmation to the Lady Selene's question, remembering the few times Helen had managed to cover for her when she snuck out at night to meet Sanasa whenever Persephone was busy.
Emilia has heard of the parties thrown by the Leventi hostesses, and held a certain sense of admiration for the Leventi daughters. In a way, they were the kind of poise and grace Emilia couldn't see herself ever achieving. As a princess, it was inevidable that the young Xanthos knew the etiquette and mannerisms, as well as all the technicalities to plan a splendied and lavish party. That however, didn't mean she was an excellent hostess. Emilia was great at technicalities, but when it came to being a hostess, it seemed inevidable that Persephone shined at that.
What she truly enjoyed was the small details, what completed a look, the colors and choices of food, all of the things that would form an experience, yet she wanted no part of the experience.
With a nod of her head to affirm that she had enjoyed the Dionysus festival (for it was rare for Persephone to let Emilia travel herself), she gave a thoughtful look. Athenia is unlike Taengea, whereby the kingdom had a nice balance of professionalism and party. Yet due to its splendid location on the cliffside, the view provided was spectacular, especially if one visited the right provinces. "You should visit Corinth if you have the time. We've called it the personification of a fairytale from time to time." Emilia's gaze held a faraway look as she remembered the few times she's visited with her sister and father. "We're friendly, Athenians are. It's our culture."
It was then, that Emilia blinked, her gaze having wandered from Selene's features, now snapped back with a bright smile, as if Emilia had just thought of something. "Would you like to visit? Then you can do the comparision yourself? Persephone wouldn't mind, I'm sure." Emilia was, as her culture and heritage dictates, naturally friendly and welcoming, and she shone at he idea of showing someone around her home kingdom. Besides, Persephone did tell her to make relations, right?

Her life had always been Taengea. As it has always seemed that she never had a reason to leave, Selene had never thought of the possibility that she could one day visit elsewhere. If she had married, that would have been one thing-- traveling with your spouse was always looked upon with favor. But to travel, by herself, to a place she'd never been... that seemed all like a distance dream. And yet, it was one that she couldn't help but want for herself. The chance to see more of the world that just her little peace of heaven sounded amazing.
It would not be easy to make this happen. She was going to have to convince her father that it was a good idea. But he would be the easiest one to get on board. Her uncle and mother would be the challenge. While her uncle may see it as an opportunity to have a wider range of suitors seeking out her hand, her mother would only think of it as losing her most helpful party planner. However could the Leventi house throw the parties that it did without Selene's hand in the matter? And what about her other sisters, who relied on her to set the example? With Theo getting married soon, would her presence be missed if she was gone for too long.
Selene bowed her head, grateful for the invitation. "It is an honor to be asked to visit as a guest of the princess." She continued with caution, not wanting to offend the sweet girl, but not really sure it was in her place to accept without first going through her family. "I'm sure my uncle and father would be overjoyed to make the arrangements, should you only give them a date for which to do so." It would certainly be interesting time, that's for sure. The more she thought about it, the more excited she got about it. "But I would certainly look forward to it, should we be able to make it happen." She let out a soft giggle, happy to finally have something besides her sister's wedding to look forward to.

Of course, it wouldn't be happening within the next few weeks. The voyage back to Athenia itself would take about a couple of days if the weather was good, to almost a week if bad weather presisted. Emilia would have to return home and confer with her elder sister on whether or not her father's condition would permit them to accept visitors to the royal palace at this time. But Emilia was more then happy to accept Lady Selene's visit when she did come. The young princess is a classic Athenian, who adored hosting and was friendly to all, even if she came off as a tad bit prissy due to her stature and rank.
Tilting her head slightly as she was used to in acceptance of the bowed head that the Lady Selene offered her, Emilia smiled gently, waving her hand at her lady's maid to step forward. Helen had taken a step back when Emilia waved her down, but the now the cautious looking blonde by her side stepped forward, attentive to her lady's needs.
"Helen, remind me to send out a missive to Lady Selene, extending an official invite to her to visit Athenia upon my arrival home." Emilia was forgetful, a trait that irritated her. But Helen has done much to cover up her mistakes, and her lady's maid was indispensible when it came to reminding Emilia of her many responsibilities as the princess.
As the lady's maid nodded and stepped back again, Emilia noticed the weight in her hand, remembering the apple she had brought and her reason for coming to Aphrodite's temple. Letting her eyes flick back to Selene's beautiful features, the girl nodded in assent. "I'll inform of the dates upon my arrival at Athenia, after speaking to Princess Persephone." Emilia assured, just as Helen tapped her shoulder, reminding her of the time. The chariot races were due to begin soon, and she did not want to be late to the opening. Persephone had always reminded her that that was the best time to mingle and create relations.
With an apologetic look at Selene, Emilia said, "I'd like to have a few moments to speak to the Goddess myself, if you wouldn't mind Lady Selene. I have many things to give thanks for."she murmured. Well, give thanks may not be the right words, but at the very least she's got wishes to make. Drifting forward as the lady left, Emilia placed her offering to the altar in front of Aphrodite's statue, and took a step back, clasping her hands in front of her chest, and bowed her head, eyes closing in prayer.
Mostly, it was for Persephone. For her sister's joy and safety, and that she managed to find a sound solution to all of the rumors circling around what would happen upon the death of their father. Emilia was someone who adored the idea of love, in love with the idea of love. But at this point in life, with all the things going on in her life, the young princess found herself more worried for her sister then herself.
With a last, fervant prayer to the Goddess she held in high regard, Emilia thanked her for the time, before stepping back, and with a final bow, turned to exit the temple, smiling when her eyes met Lady Selene again. "Many thanks for the time, Lady Selene." Emilia turned, seeing her guards who nodded to confirm the time. "Looks like I'll have to take my leave, the races will begin soon and I'd hate to miss the beginning." the brunette's words was layered with a hint of a laugh. And then the young princess paused, a thoughtful look. "How will you get to the Circus, Lady Selene?" Emilia's eyes flickered over to her waiting carriage, where Nicholai was awaiting her return, and then suggested, "Perhaps you can join me on the short trip there? You are planning to attend to the races, are you not?"

Selene was going to have to play her cards right if she was going to get her father and uncle to accept any formal invitation to Athenia. But, being in the company of a princess would certainly do good for her family's name. And perhaps being in good favor with them would appeal to others of their status. It would only be a good thing. She would just have to make sure that it appeared to be her uncle's suggestion. There was no doubt in her mind that she was going to have to make sure her father was on her side, make sure that he saw that she wanted it more than anything. As the eldest daughter, he would do his best to make sure she was happy. And that may work on her side this time.
If her math was correct, she would have plenty of time to make sure that the idea was in place.
At the princess's mention of wishing for a moment, she shook her head in disgusted. "My deepest apologies, Princess. I'll give you a moment alone to pray." She gave a deep curtsy before making her way back out side. Her mind was racing in all different directs, each of them more interesting than the last. This was a real chance to see the world outside her little life. It wasn't going to come without escorts, and it would have to work around Theo's wedding. But if the timing was right, before the wedding, it could potentially happen. Within a month, at the soonest. Her face lit up in a grin as she walked out, her escort raising a brow at the look on her face. She waved him off, patiently standing by the exit for the royal to finish.
She gave the princess a shrug. "I had planned on walking. It is still early, and my father was going to meet myself and my sister just outside of the stables." An offer to ride with the princess came as a surprise, but it wasn't one she was going to turn down. The carriage looked big enough, and if she was going to offer, Selene wasn't going to be rude and turn her down. "I would be honored to accompany you to the Circus, your highness. That is, if you don't mind the company."

Emilia's eyes lit up at the suggestion of Selene accompanying her. She wouldn't mind, in all honesty. The ride to the docks were not far, perhaps a twenty minute to at most The princess smiled, immediately shaking her head to Selene's comment. "Of course I don't mind. The walk to the Circus may be a bit of a distance for you, but it is but five or ten minutes by the carriage. Do come in, there is enough space for us all. And I would be honored to meet Lord Georgios and Lady Evelli again." Plus, it helped that the carriage held a royal crest that her guards had put up, which cleared up their route, which meant the journey may take even faster then the time Emilia had stipulated.
The brunette smiled, and nodded, motioning for her guards to allow Lady Selene on her carriage, before taking the proffered arm of her personal bodyguard to get on the carriage. "I do hope the seats and carriage meet your standards?" Emilia grinned as she entered, ever the hospitality of an Athenian, as she took a seat in her carriage, and awaited for Lady Selene to join her. The large wheeled vehicle was gilded in gold and red, with symbols of swans carved by the edges, the symbol of her house. The four geldings attached to the carriage were lively and spirited, just the way Emilia liked them.
Awaiting till the the blonde lady was comfortably seated, Emilia rapped her knuckles on the roof, signalling their ready to depart. The carriage's mechanism was smooth, a seamless transition from stationary to movement. From the outside, one could hear the clip of the hooves as her driver steered them to the cobbled pathway that will lead to the main square, and eventually the docks.
The seats were plush, cushioned in red velvet. Her servants had drawn the curtains, but as the carriage rumbled along, Emilia pushed it aside, smiling when she saw the remnants of the Dionysus festival and its aftermath, with kegs of empty alcohol and plenty of drunken men in a hangover stupor. Of course, there were more people who were upright and sober, making their way to the Circus for the chariots that served as the closing event of the Dionysus family, but the whole scene out the carriage window as they rumbled along made for an interesting scene, one that made Emilia smile.
"Does this happen all the time, my lady?" Emilia asked, mild amusement coloring her voice. Turning her head to return her hazel eyes on the blonde lady, the irises sparkling with mirth.

The eldest Leventi couldn't help but smile at the obvious joy the princess got form her suggestion. She had to be just as interested in her kingdom as Selene was in Athenia. The woman had been a bit bold in her suggestion that she go along with Emilia, but there has been something about the way she had acted that made her offer to come with. Selene beamed a bit as she stepped up into the carriage. It was the finest one she'd ever ridden in, lush and comfortable. Her family had always preferred the open air when they could.
"That sounds wonderful. My man will follow behind." She nodded to the man, who didn't seem to mind the seperation from a giggling group of ladies. In fact, he looked relieved to have some quiet time to himself. He must have been listening to the two as they had their conversation outside. Selene settled into the seat, sighing softly as she arranged her skirts and watched the princess settle into her own seat. "The offer is greatly appreciated." Her eyes were watching the princess, trying to gauge a reaction for everything that was on the street.
Spotting the drunkards on the streets, her own giggle was soft. "Aye, but mostly on festival dates. While we love good wine and a pleasant time, it does not always appear like we are recovering from a rough storm." By the afternoon, most of the evidence of the festival would be gone. Banners may still hang from open windows, but the wine casks and the hung over men would be long gone, searching out dark rooms and fatty meats. "Do your festivals ever look like this?" She asked, wondering if they were appearing to be simpler than those from Athenia.

Helen had taken a seat up with the driver, while the rest of her guards took up their usual spots behind the carriage as Nicholai did. The carriage was smooth down the cobblestoned streets of Vasiliadon, taking the two nobles down the small hilly area where the Naos stood.
Smiling as she heard the Lady Selene's comment, Emilia tossed an amused look at the blonde over her shoulder, still watching as more people joined the crowds on the streets. These new people however, looked more lucid, not at all having overimbibed, and Emilia had the strong suspicion that they too were heading for the Circus to watch the event, as it would serve as the final close to what had been a wonderful Dionysus festival.
"Somewhat. But Athenian's are less likely to overimbibe. I think they have too strong a sense of responsibility." Emilia joked with a light giggle. Afterall her home kindgom was known to be strong politicians, and no one got that sort of reputation by constantly being drunk.
Letting the curtain fall again to cover the window, she turned her full focus on Selene before speaking, "Persephone would like the hydriai of wine I had got for her. It is to have came from Epirus, and smells wonderful indeed." One of her men had returned with it the day before, upon Emilia's return from wandering the day in the streets of the ruckus that was the Taengean festival. She knew her sister would appreciate the gift, and couldn't wait to return to see her sister's reaction. "Messaly produces and exports wine as well, but I'm quite sure it is nowhere near as fine as the wine we can find here."
Settling back against the flushed seats again, Emilia rearranged the skirts just as the carriage turned a corner, and the crowds thickened as the entrance to the Circus neared. "Have you been to Athenia before, Lady Selene? I would be happy to bring you anywhere you wish to visit, if a specific province strikes your fancy." Emilia offered, her congenial smile in place as usual.
The princess was a polished hostess, and it showed even in the way she conversed and directed conversations, never letting one lull for too long. These day to day, non-committal conversations she could handle. It was the more politically savvy ones that Emilia would leave to her elder sister's domain, preferring to stay out of it.

Selene had grown up around these people, had found their behavior absolutely... normal. There was nothing wrong with enjoying life, nor was it odd to see men and woman recovering for days after. It was beautiful and home, so it was odd to hear that not everyone, and not every kingdom, was the same. The more people she met from outside of her own safe harbor, the more she was starting to realize that her sheltered life may not have been the best upbringing.
But still, it was hers. And she certainly did not want to change that.
"I am sure that even if they were like this, they would not be so open about it!" Her people worshiped the Gods who focused on the lighter things in life, so to think they would have anything else but a joyous time would have been foolish. "It is just an indicator of how much we love our Gods. And how well we are serving and honoring them." She didn't mind the crowds, didn't mind the parties. In fact, she had been raised that being a good hostess and celebrating life was the only way to earn favor with the Gods.
Hearing of the wine, she brightened as well. "I will have a slave bring you an amphora from our personal reserves. It is far better than anything you will find on the open market. And it is the most decadent wine you will ever taste." It would be a gift her mother would insist on, because befriending a princess only meant that she would bring a better suitor for her to marry. While she, on the other hand, liked the idea of having acquaintances in other kingdoms to be able to see more of the world. "Consider it a thank you for the enjoyable carriage ride."
Her head shook gently, "My parents always believed that staying close to home was better for their daughters. My travel has been limited to the family home on Serenn. I think I would like to see what else the is out there. Perhaps one day." With the young princess as a personal guide, maybe she would see the best of the best. "I think I would like to see what your favorite places are, then perhaps I can discover my own preferences."

It didn't take long for the carriage to eventually get on the main street that would be the markets, which leads directly to the entrance of the Circus. The vendors had set up early, all eager to earn a coin or two from what would be the last day of which Taengea would see such a huge crush of people from all over the kingdom and the other kingdoms who are visiting. From there, the carriage visibly slowed down due to the larger amount of people on the streets, and Emilia leaned over to pull up the curtains so they could see the sights as the carriage rumbled slowly.
Selene's comment made her nod, true as it was. Athenian's would certainly not make any scene of themselves being drunk. Oh sure, they had the occasional drunkard screaming and waving an empty jug on the street, heartbroken over a cheating wife or sad over gambling debts, but nothing to the scale of what Taengea had. That being said however, Emilia could see the pride in the Lady Selene's words, and she concured, for she too was proud of her own heritage. While Emilia was not as well travelled as her sister and father, she has been to a few places, and the stark differences in culture even if the kingdoms were only a ships ride away, amazed her.
"Oh! I must thank you, Lady Selene. Persephone would be greatly pleased." Emilia replied to the offer of an amphora of wine from the Leventi reserves. It thrilled her to be able to bring a gift for her sister for once after many years of being pampered by Persephone, and Emilia's features visibly brightened. Of course, she knew that as the royal family, they were given many gifts, and her father cautioned her against being friends with someone and being made use of, but Emilia was gullibly friendly sometimes.
"I... confess, I am not as well travelled as you seem to think, Lady Selene. This visit to Taengea was my first, although I have greatly enjoyed it. I do hope that I can return and visit the other provinces in the future." the princess murmured. "I'll be delighted to bring you to Corinth and Chaopeia if you visit in the hotter months. Illoclis is a nice place too, as is Laconis. Shall I write to you to inform you of travel plans, should your family agree to it, Lady Selene?"

Selene loved the hustle of the streets, loved the way the vendors were anxious for a coin. There was something magical about those trying to sell the wares, trying to catch the eye of anyone with a coin to spare. Were all markets like this, so informal and boisterous as this one? She wasn't sure, with her limited travel, but every chance she had to come to the city, she made a point to come to the market. Even if her mother preferred to have things brought to their house to shop, it was far more enjoyable to be among the others, to enjoy the cacophony of buying and selling. And today, with the festival coming to a close, it was even louder.
As they made their way deeper in the streets, she was getting a bit anxious, there was so much to do!
She grinned brightly at the princess. "I would be honored to visit, Princess. I know if you send the invitation, my family will make the necessary accommodations to make it happen." After all, the last thing her mother would do would be to turn down a chance for her to become more than just friends with a princess. It would be the best political move her family could make, short of marrying her off to Zacharias (which she was already sure would happen). As they drove through the streets, she couldn't help but notice the familiar heads of dark hair that belonged to her sisters. She let out a little clap of excitement. "Princess, would you be so kind as to allow me to exit here? My sisters are in the market and I should like to spend a bit of time with them before the festivities."

Selene loved the hustle of the streets, loved the way the vendors were anxious for a coin. There was something magical about those trying to sell the wares, trying to catch the eye of anyone with a coin to spare. Were all markets like this, so informal and boisterous as this one?
