Aivon seldom found himself particularly attentive to his conquests once he'd had his fill. But, that in it of itself was the catch. Salacious by nature, it was a heady thing when he found someone who seemed to understand his intentions. He was a wanderer, following the sway of the winds, and home was always facing in another direction. He reveled in it, finding his trade every time the wanderlust picked him up. But, nevertheless, when roots formed it was a chore pulling them back out of the ground.
It isn't the last time, he reconciled. Though, he had no way of knowing just how long it would be. Adrestus seemed adamant on going home, and while he could renege his obligation, it would create the same issue. He'd grown fond of both sides, in different ways, and it was time for them to leave.
It was a bit jarring, the moment of introspection. He always told her he was going, a sort of courtesy so she didn't go out looking for him. He could analyze that habit, and figure it out. But, he didn't care. Leaving it at that, the charlatan decided to make his play. He'd been in her estate before, and knew the grounds quite well. Sifting through a corridor, he made an easy entrance to the room he knew to be hers, climbing through the open portal once he was certain that nobody was paying attention.
"Eleni," he murmured, finding the woman fussing about her room. He didn't know, or care, what she was up to. He'd throw her plans out the window and take the time for himself, just to insist upon the matter at hand. An arm curled about the woman's shoulders, a hand catching her mouth. He didn't want to jeopardize himself with a scream of surprise as he breathed into her ear,
"I have something to tell you."
It'd be a familiar message, though perhaps, through more severe means than the norm. Pressed for time, the charlatan wanted, more than anything else, to savour the last night he had in his favoured kingdom of Taengea. What awaited him was grim, to say the least. Athenia had never been one of his favoured, but the promise of turbulence in the distant land aroused his attention. After all, danger tended to be his best enterprise. He furrowed his brow just as he released her mouth.
Taking a step back, the naysayer threw himself onto her bed, staring up at the ceiling as he admitted,
"I'm leaving tomorrow. The pampered lord needs to return to his little throne, and he's expressed that he wants me there with him."

It was for precisely that reason that Eleni was taking the time to make herself presentable tonight. Dusk was approaching and she wasn’t spending another night stuck in this house. Not when she could be at a tavern with a dozen more enticing distractions. She had chosen a lovely blue peplos that highlighted all her best features. She was just putting the final touches on her appearance when suddenly she heard her name behind her.
She jumped slightly, startled by the sound, though a hand pressed over her mouth and an arm curled around her shoulders. Immediately her body tensed within the grip of this intruder. It was the familiar whisper in her ear that relaxed her in his grip, leaning back against the familiar man. She waited patiently for him to release her mouth. Once he did, she could only smile as she answered. “I think I’ve heard that one before.”
Eleni turned around to face him, blonde curls flipping around her shoulders from the motion, watching as he fell back to her bed. This was one of two things. Either he had some sort of a wild surprise in store for her, or he was leaving. His admission confirmed it was the later. She pouted slightly, lower lip jutting out as she considered. This was more or less the norm. Aivon came and went as he pleased. Sometimes he was here for a week, sometimes for months. Sometimes he returned quickly, and other times it was some time before he returned. Nonetheless, he always seemed to wander her way again.
Still, the way he declared it this time made her laugh softly. “Look at you, at someone’s beck and call. Who would have ever imagined it?” she teased. Things with Aivon were simple and fun. She had a soft spot for him of course - after all, she didn’t bed just anyone - but it wasn’t something that haunted her in his absence. She lowered herself to take a seat on her bed’s edge, grinning down at him.
“So, how are you saying goodbye? And don’t pretend you haven’t thought of something. You never do anything halfway. We have to send you off in style after all.”

With a gaze flickering along the ceiling, Aivon found his head sinking, tipping upwards so that those eyes naturally fell on the wall behind him. Her teasing might've pinched a nerve, for there was some degree of truth to it. It was strange, to be a fixture in someone else's gathering, but in the end, he always figured that Adrestus would get his someday. It was just a ploy, right? Eventually, the intrigue would fade away and just as with his dalliances, he'd leave Adrestus behind for sweeter pastures.
Either way, he struggled with the notion until he at last acquiesced in the interest of just not thinking about it anymore. Aivon, instead, thought back to just the moment before, when that pout jutted out Eleni's lower lip. This was, really, no different than any other time. Except that he had no figure on when he'd come back. He could, often enough, form some sort of projection, whether extrapolated onto a somewhat hollow promise or just tossed out for the sake of it. Lies went hand in hand with whim to create a blur around most everything he said.
"Hardly," he deflected.
He'd never bothered to go into the details of his life before Taengea, or even Greece as a whole. It was irrelevant, just another element to ignore as the charlatan handcrafted the image he presented out to the world. In his own interest, he brushed it all to the side, and let slow laughter build in his chest. A hand trailed along his own chest until he kneaded his own neck, working out a kink from the morning before he continued,
"It's been... fun. Sailing with him the past few months. Makes me wonder what having a brother is like."
Wretched sentiment seemed par for the course today, from the conflict of leaving to the conflict of going. In the end, he trusted his instincts. It was, really, all he could do. Her next question stirred him from that line of thought, his head shaking to stir it from his brain as his lips curved into a smile. She was right, of course. By no means a romantic, Aivon's pursuit was exhilaration and nothing else. He persuaded himself of it as he rose from the bed, drawing nearer to her when she sat on the edge. Fingertips danced along Eleni's shoulder, guiding the hair away from her neck as lips settled upon the skin.
Tipping his head to let his words stir in her ear, he answered,
"You're right. I've been thinking a lot about it. First, we break you out of this hellhole. Then, we take daddy's money and buy our fill of wine. Then..."
Wrapped in a tiny veil and looped around his wirst like a bracelet lingered a particular tincture that he'd arranged just for the occasion.
"We become the lotus eaters and wander to the cliffs near the port. Maybe you'll jump with me this time."
He drew back, plucking the string to unwind it from his wrist, to place the two flowers he'd procured into her hand.
"I think it might even be worth my absence, to have such a night."
It was his turn to tease as the charlatan twisted in her bed, legs hooking around her and drawing her nearer before he left her on the bed to rise to his feet instead. He looked between the portal he'd entered from and the door on the other side before he asked Eleni,
"Which way?"

Eleni didn’t think much of her teasing. Aivon wasn’t one to take things personally. It was part of what made it so easy to be around him. She didn’t have to try so hard to say or do the right thing. She could actually relax and just let herself breathe for once. She gave a soft laugh as he spoke. “Brothers are highly overrated.” She had never been especially close to her own. Of course, they’d never had much patience for her either. She was the baby and a girl after all. She paused a moment, seeming to reconsider. “Though, maybe its different if you’re a boy.”
She questioned his plans for the evening, knowing full well he had some sort of mischief in mind. Soon enough, his fingers were dancing over her skin, brushing aside her hair. His lips played over the soft skin of her shoulder sending a shiver down her spine. He shifted slightly, so his breath was hot on her ear in a way that made her bite her lip in anticipation.
“Quite a plan you have there,” she murmured, her voice a touch breathy already. He placed two flowers into her hand and she wet her lips as she glanced back at him. “You might have to do a fair bit of convincing to get me to jump though,” she teased. He was far more a thrillseeker than she would ever be. “There’s one little flaw with it though...”
Eleni flashed him a grin then. “Why would we pay for wine when we can just stop by my father’s stores?” One of the many benefits of being the daughter of a wine merchant was having a near endless supply of the intoxicating beverage. A perk that Eleni very much took advantage of. She groaned softly as he teased her before rising to her feet. She pursed her lips for a moment considering.
“She’s probably occupied, but might be better not to chance it,” she said finally, nodding towards the way he’d entered. “I won’t let her sour a night as splendid as this is bound to be.”

There was an expectation, one he was all too keen to satisfy, of Aivon leaving Eleni once they were both spent and satisfied. Whether it was his idea or hers to spend that last night with the other, the result was the same. But, there was reverie to be had, a celebration of the time he'd spent in Taengea, but moreover, a celebration of Eleni herself. It took a particular type to hold his attention for as long as she did, and he considered stealing her away his recompense for a time well-spent.
"Maybe," he offered, leaving at that before he explained his plan to hers, relishing in the way she shivered against his play with her. Savouring the breathiness of her voice, he watched the flower shift in her palm before he retrieved them, carefully wrapping them in the fabric before securing it around his wrist. Not one to wear jewelry, it was exactly for this sort of purpose that the aversion existed. Slowly, the scoundrel turned her about to face him.
Her answer might've been somewhat disappointing if it weren't for that teasing tone in her voice. Then, she pointed out the flaw in his plan and he hummed in thought, raising a brow at her suggestion. That did sound a much better plan. As fun as it was to spend other people's money, taking their stuff was just as well.
"You're absolutely right."
Aivon forgot exactly what it was that made her family wealthy. It was none of his concern, after all. He made enough from her folks as it was, taking the occasional trinket from their homes whenever Eleni wasn't looking. He wondered if she'd even cared, but it wasn't his prerogative to ask for permission. Once she pointed the way, the scoundrel pressed forward, pushing his companion against the wall of her own room. Lips caught lips, his tongue diving into her mouth in a sudden tease for her. It was his intention to have her bask in her desires.
It was, after all, what Aivon invited with his every visit. A wide smirk cast upon the man's lips as his hand played along her abdomen, pulling back from her before a practiced motion had his body swing through the portal, feet meeting squarely with the ground before he motioned to Eleni to move in time with him,
Careful footfalls moved towards sharp corners as the pair of them hid behind walls.
"Your house is pretty easy to sneak into, isn't it?" he teased.
Aivon had a wealth of experience in breaking and entering, and was quite certain he'd explained that to Eleni before. He'd abandoned the notion of deception with her, simply for the inconvenience it created with extended meetings.
"Where's the wine cellar, again? I always forget."
He always partook in too much of it, all too eager to let himself slip into the shade of intoxication.

He always partook in too much of it, all too eager to let himself slip into the shade of intoxication.
Somewhere along the line it had become a tradition of sorts. His night in Taengea was always spent tangled up in one another, usually preceded by some sort of indulging. It was never a farewell though, not really. More a celebration of good times passed and yet to come all at once. He explained his idea to her, and she had to admit, it set her heart to racing just hearing about it. She wasn’t sure if she would have the courage to follow through, but then with Aivon, nothing was ever certain. He had a way of bringing out sides of her that she never knew existed.
He was all sorts of tempting after all.
His reaction made her giggle a little in glee. She didn’t expect him to remember much of anything about her or her family really. After all, what she enjoyed most about him was his ability to make her forget about all of that. About everything but him and all he offered her. With him, she felt free. She didn’t care to examine things much more than that. She knew all too well that few things stayed good when looked at too closely.
Eleni gasped softly as he pinned her to the wall with his body before capturing her lips. It felt like he possessed her entirely in that moment as she melted against him, lips parting eagerly for his tongue. In an instant, her mind was numb and there was only the man before her, pressed so very tantalizingly against her. A man who was pulling away far too quickly for her liking. Her eyes fluttered open as he withdrew, a small groan falling from her kiss swollen lips. Just in time to see him swing himself through the portal. She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to steady herself before following him.
“I think that was intentional,” she said with a roll of her eyes. She didn’t want to think about the number of men her mother had sneaking in and out of here over the years. “Come on, this way,” she said, eager to think of anything else. She slipped past him, moving through the house, cautiously leading the way to the wine cellar. Opening the door, she gestured for him to slip inside before following behind.
Being the family of a wine merchant meant that their personal selection of wine was even better than might be expected for a family of their wealth. After all, wine was might as well be in her father and brother's blood. It was what they lived for, and as such, they amassed a significant reserve for themselves. Add to that her mother's all too expensive tastes, and what resulted was a collection that was impressive. Eleni gestured around the cellar as she met Aivon's eyes.
"Take your pick."

Eleni went pliant against his urging, easily giving way to his kiss and letting her world fall away in favour of the salacious temptation. Aivon reveled in those moments, when everything dissolved and there was only blinding sensation. It was part of what he reveled in with her, a lone, generous concession in the midst of his infinite selfishness. Or, perhaps, assimilated with it. After all, pleasure with Eleni was always reciprocated. Flashing the woman a smirk as she rolled her eyes, he arched a brow at the notion of it being intentional until...
Oh, right.
He didn't comment on it, knowing full well of her aversion to talking about her parents. Nothing would ruin the reverie of their evening after all. Aivon followed her, his head canting left to right in watch for prying eyes only to discover just how true his words were. This place seemed tailor-made to hide things, and he was pleased to be among the hidden things. As they moved through the house, Aivon didn't avert his gaze. However, to deviate too far from Eleni and make too much noise would spoil their entire ploy. A silken sash, however, caught his gaze, clearly a female's accessory. He swiped it, a mischievous smirk glittering his lips as he slipped right past her and through the open door.
Wine.

There was so much of it. He'd been in here before, he reckoned, pressed Eleni against the massive wooden barrel and fucked her against her folks' livelihood. While that was an incredibly heady temptation, he'd have just enough self-control to follow through their little plan. But, that string of self-control wouldn't stop his hands. Fingers wove through material at her neck, sliding along the skin of her back before they threaded into the hairs at her nape. His free hand caught a bottle within reach, holding the neck between his fingers as his lips feathered along the flesh of her throat.
Playfully, the scoundrel's teeth would make a thin mark at the crook of her neck before he slid the bottle between her fingers.
"Close your hand," he instructed before he pulled away from her to take another bottle. Two would be plenty, especially when drunk in tandem with the lotus flower he'd promised her. The tantalizing rush of heat in his gut against the sheer evening winds coupled made for a sweet mixture of sensations. Adding in the reckless abandon of drunk and high sex? He salivated over the thought of listening to Eleni's drug-riddled moans echoing through the air.
"I think we're good to go, aren't we?" The scoundrel raised his free hand, unraveling the sash from around his wrist where he'd kept it. He wrapped it around the woman's neck, placing a kiss just above the fabric before he struck her ass with the newly free hand and gestured for her to lead the way once again.
"Let's get out of here before the bitch's minions find us," he said, intent on following her whichever way she led. The two of them wove through the estate like ghosts, dodging the sampling of guards before Aivon assisted Eleni in climbing over an abandoned section of gate and following her through. With the both of them out, it was his turn to lead. Before he did, however, he undid the string around his wrist. The flowers remained unbroken through their journey, and it was time for them to take them.
"We'll have about... ten minutes before this knocks you on your ass. So... take it, and let's get going."
Fuck if he knew that was the truth. He didn't count the seconds, but it sounded right coming out.
Aivon encouraged her, lifting the flower to his own lips before crushing it between his teeth. The bitter fluid stained the bridge of his mouth and his teeth before he swiped his tongue along the entirety of his mouth and swallowed. Blowing a kiss towards Eleni, he popped the bottle he held, taking a swig to erase the last vestiges of that taste before he took them through the streets of Vasiliadon and towards the cliff face he'd mentioned before.

It was hardly the pair’s first foray into her family’s wine cellar. Eleni still got a little heated when she came down here even alone, remembering all too vividly one such time when he’d pressed her to one of the barrels and had his way with her. Even knowing that no one had been home at the time to catch them, the tiniest chance of it had thrilled her beyond belief. It was so tempting to pull him close, to forget their plans for the night and just start their fun right this instant. Especially after the teasing he had offered her in her room.
Instead, his fingers moved over her back, teasingly tracing a line down her spine and back before weaving into her blonde hair. Her breath caught slightly in her throat, head tipping backwards ever so slightly and his lips moved along her pale skin. His teeth marked her, drawing a soft gasp from her lips as he passed a bottle to her. If it weren’t for his instruction, she might well have let it slip through her fingers given the way he so easily distracted her. Instead, she took hold of the bottle, even as she felt her body already responding to his unspoken promises, heat rising within her core.
His question earned a soft noise of agreement from her, though that quickly faded as he wrapped a sash around her neck and pressing a soft kiss to her skin that made her close her eyes and shiver. Where it had come from she didn’t care to know. His hand slapped her ass, making her jump and squeak in surprise even as she felt that tension coiling tighter still low in her stomach. His remark made her laugh, even if she was still half dazed from his teasing.
They moved through the house unnoticed, the secrecy of it all a thrill in and of itself. Things felt so much better when you were getting away with something. Eleni didn’t understand the why of it, yet she knew it was true. She was nearly giddy with delight by the time they reached the city’s streets. He offered her one of the flowers again and she could feel her heart begin to race all the more. She had never experienced this particular high before, but she had some idea of what to expect. Things with Aivon always ended one way. Naked, tangled up in one another and overwhelmed with such pleasure that nothing else could pierce it. This was just a new way of getting there.
Following his lead, she crushed the petals between her teeth and swallowed it before reaching to take the open bottle from him hand. “No sense to risk wasting anything,” she explained with a shrug before washing the lotus blossom down. Who knew if they’d actually remember the second bottle existed once the flower’s effects kicked in. It was so easy to get distracted when one was soaring. She passed the bottle back to him, following his steps through the streets and towards the cliff.
There was a slight skip to her steps, and an urgency to her pace, all the while wondering just where this would lead her. Both the drug and the man. She couldn’t help but believe that both were equally dangerous in their own ways, and yet, she followed them down eagerly, craving all the oblivion that he could offer her, desperate to drown herself in pleasurable sensation once more.

"No sense to risk wasting anything."
She was absolutely fucking right. The lotus blossom was a rare delicacy, a powerful intoxicant among the many that existed in the world. If there was one thing Aivon could lay claim as an aspiration, it would be the first man to have taken every drug at least one. They fascinated him, how they added colour to an already fascinating world. He indulged freely and avidly, pleased to spread his already extensive knowledge of the intoxicants to whomever was willing to enjoy them with me.
Provided that they weren't hideous.
Beauty was Aivon's draw, and Eleni had it in spades, a boon to the fact that she was so eager to follow his lead, never expecting him to lead her astray. She was one of the few he wouldn't, keenly invested in her. He licked his lips as they tread through the walkways of Vasiliadon. The city was intimately familiar to him, these paths walked over and over again, whether with company or not. The difference being, that he didn't travel so quickly as to outpace the woman.
Once they'd left the bustle of the capitol behind, the port was its own beast. Fortunately for them, the pier and the stalls that surrounded it weren't on their mind. As the noise of the city left them behind, Aivon abandoned this silly distance formed between them in the interim. He dropped the bottle in his hand, letting it sink into grass just as the grasp of the lotus flower proved itself. The sharp tingles erupted throughout his nerves just as he threw himself at Eleni. The grass would cover their fall just as it had the wine. Hidden away by the tall blades, there was nothing stopping him now.
Aivon hovered over Eleni, his lips curved into a wide smirk just as his fingers snaked a path along the length of her arm. The other slipped between them, intent on prying the silken sash from her waist. He threw it behind them, unconcerned with where it landed as that hand returned to its place, little by little prying the fabric apart to bare her flesh to him. Just as he undressed her, the bottle of wine loosely held in her hand was taken from her next.
"The lotus flower allows us to forget everything that troubles our souls. Forget," he began, letting the vibrations of his lips carry through the entirety of her body.
"Everything but me. Fall with me into the depths of oblivion," he breathed against her, his lips brushing a path along the plane of her abdomen before settling above the curves of her breasts. Wine dribbled from the neck of the bottle, staining against bared nipples before he sucked the sanguine fluid from her skin. little by little, his path rose, bringing the bottle to his lips and taking a short sip before swallowing. The dribble painted crimson against his lips just as they laid claim against hers.
He held every inclination to toy with her, to coerce that persistent sadness that lingered within her and render it irrelevant.
"Think of me," he breathed against her lips as he placed the bottle in her hand. It was her option to imbibe as his lips curved into a grin. His body twitched, the tremors carrying through his hands as an ecstatic hiss escaped his lips. He reveled in this.
"Drown with me," he instructed her, just as he shifted his shoulders, letting the fabric of his chiton fall, supported only by the leather of his belt.

Eleni usually didn’t deviate much from the wine with which she was so familiar. But every now and then, even that wasn’t strong enough to block out the many harsh realities of her life. Even in her occasional experimentations with drugs though, she had never before tried the lotus blossom. But Aivon and her had a history. Enough of one that she knew he wouldn’t let her come to harm. He came back to her time and time again after all. He had even dropped the ruse of the alias she first knew him as. Clearly he was attached, at least as much as someone like him could be.
They walked beyond the bustle of the city and the lesser crowds of the pier. Until they reached the cliff he had spoken of, covered in tall grass. He dropped a bottle of wine to ground and then turned to her. Barely a moment later, they were tumbling to the ground in their enthusiasm, hidden by that very same grass. Usually she wouldn’t be quite so bold, but the lotus’s hold on her was growing stronger. Even then, it wasn’t the strongest intoxicant to influence her. That honor was reserved for Aivon himself. He had a way of loosening her inhibitions far more than any drug or wine.
Just as now, he wasted no time at all in baring her beneath him, removing first her sash and then everything else. Any other time, she would have at least played coy, demanded privacy. But not tonight, not with him. Not when he offered her the sweet promise of complete escape into oblivion. He took the open wine from her hand and already she was entirely under his sway. His words and the hum of his lips against her skin earned a soft sigh, her back arching slightly under him.
She felt the cool splash of wine on her skin, followed by the warmth of his mouth on her, sucking and licking the beverage from her body. Eleni struggled to remain still, knowing that squirming as she wished to would only make a greater mess. Yet the sensations he lavished upon her were so tantalizing... it was easy to do his bidding. To let him and the wine and the lotus pull her away from reality to something far sweeter.
“Yes,” she moaned softly as he gave his instructions, placing the bottle into her hand. She tipped her head back to take a long swallow of the sanguine liquid. When she looked up at him with hooded eyes, she saw his chiton hanging around his waist, held only by his belt. She licked her lips, still wet with wine, lust and hunger darkening her bright blue eyes. She reached up, tugging him back down to kiss her once more as everything else began to fade away.
