Eleni was humiliated, there was no other word for it as Iason stood there staring at her, mouth hanging open in shock. Here she was half-drunk on wine and she couldn’t seem to stop the flow of words from her mouth. But with every passing second, she was digging herself a deeper hole, scandalizing him all the more. She had never meant for him to know any of this. Never meant to make him uncomfortable. Ladies weren’t supposed to be so forward. They were meant to know their place, not throw themselves at man far out of their reach.
With everything she said, she just revealed more and more. Just pushed him further away. Just shut up, shut up! She was trying to do just that, but panic seemed to flow through her veins, gripping her heart in a vice-like grip.
Then in an instant, everything went blank.
Suddenly he was closer and his lips were on hers, effectively silencing her. For a moment, she remained open-eyed and stunned, not quite believing this was real. But then... her eyes closed and she sank into the moment. How easily he melted through all her defenses. Every wall she put up to protect herself, to protect the world from the damage she left behind her... it all disappeared when he kissed her. Her hands slid up his chest to gently wrap around the back of his neck. His hand was at her waist which made it all the easier to lean into him. Enough so that when he pulled away, she stumbled towards him slightly.
Her eyes fluttered open, looking up at him with awe and affection. “Yeah... that’s a kiss,” she repeated breathlessly. Why had he done that? Was she all wrong about this? Did she dare hope as much?
Then she did something truly impulsive. Something she hoped she wouldn’t regret when she was sober. She lifted onto the balls of her feet, applying just a hint of pressure at the back of his neck to close the distance between them. Just like that, she pressed her lips to his, eager for another taste of the man before her, however brief it might be. It was a soft and slow kiss, and after a moment, she reluctantly pulled away, gently sucking at his lower lip as she did so. Only then did she dare look up at him.
“Was it worth the wait?”

Iason reached out with both hands to steady her as she stumbled, holding her upright though half of him felt as if he was the one who should be supported thanks to the uncomfortable amount of alcohol he'd consumed. This whole thing was dangerous, being so intoxicated near her when he'd found her attractive since he could remember liking anyone. It had been around the time she stopped coming to Meganea with her father, on one of the last trips when he'd been trying to build up the courage to tell her he thought he liked her. And then she'd stopped coming, and then his mother had died and everything had changed.
Now she was here effectively in his arms it was bringing back all of the confusing thoughts and feelings of his youth. And she'd kissed him back, her hands were on his neck and she was pressed against him in a far more amorous pose than was even remotely appropriate. He was about to say something, respond to her statement and slip away, make his apologies and try to spend the rest of the evening sobering up at home and getting his embarrassment under control alone. And then she pulled him back down towards her and things got a bit fuzzy once more.
He'd seen plenty of kisses, it was difficult to spend as much time with Emilios and Stephanos and Achilleas even as he did and not. The parties they attended frequently had couples engaging in various activities without fear of any prying eyes and he'd seen plenty. It was beyond odd to take part now, even as warm sparks felt like they were dancing on his skin wherever she touched him. He'd barely had time to process his first kiss before the second had begun, and already it was different.
When she pulled away and drew on his lower lip he exhaled sharply, opening his eyes and looking down at her. Was it worth the wait?
"I believe so. Thank you...for erm, sharing?"

"I believe so. Thank you...for erm, sharing?"
One kiss and years of memories she had locked away came flooding back. Back when she’d always assumed he would be her first kiss. When she wrote his name with hers in the sand. When she fell asleep to dreams of their wedding. Days long since past. And yet... something about Iason always brought those butterflies back, even when she believed such sentimental capacity within herself to be long dead. What she wouldn’t give to be the carefree girl he had known. The one who might have deserved him one day.
When he pulled back, she felt light-headed almost, like she was floating in midair and now quite ready to come down. Something flickered across his face then as he parted his lips to speak. Like a beast frightened away by the sight of a hunter. So without thinking, she closed the distance between them with another kiss. As if asking him not to regret it, not to run away.
He didn’t withdraw and so she let herself sink into the feel of him against her. What might have happened if her father hadn’t decided that her place was here, with her mother? If he hadn’t stopped taking her with him in his travels to Meganea? Where would they be now instead? No... she didn’t dare imagine that life for herself... it would only make the lack of him in her actual life all the more painful.
But at least now... she had a taste of what might have been to cling to, when the nights were lonely and her dreams were dark.
She looked up at him, vulnerable curiosity in her blue eyes as she awaited his answer. What he said returned a blush to her pale skin. She dipped her head low, pressing her face into his chest in the process. What he couldn’t see was the smile she couldn’t fight from her lips, even as she wondered if she had pushed too far with that second kiss.
After a moment, she looked up at him again. “It was my pleasure.” That sweet smile still tugged at her lips, too giddy from his presence to even try and play it coy. It was the truth too. She had never imagined she would be so lucky. Not after the distance that had been forced between them after all these years. She just hoped this would be something worth remembering to him too.
It was selfish and foolish, but she didn’t want to pull away from him. Not yet. Who knew how long it might be before she saw him again. If she saw him again. Her mind was scrambling for something, anything to say. Anything that might get him to linger just a little longer. But her mind was blank, still fuzzy from the thrill of kissing him at all.
“What... what are you thinking?” she whispered finally, hoping for any sort of guidance on how to move forward.
