Semiramis looked around. She let out an involuntary giggle. She the laughter sounded odd coming out of her mouth, like a clanging sound on an iron bell. “No. We are not going to practice here.” She turned to look at Adelpha, her face and voice sounding normal again, well not exactly normal, stoic is more like it. But for Semiramis looking a bit stoic was normal. Semiramis was oblivious of how awkward she came off.
“I will be getting a couple of supplies and we will be heading out for the forest.” Semiramis pivoted on her heel sharply towards the marketplace. “Feel free to follow me.”
Semiramis walked through the people in stiff fashion. She preferred to walk in this posture like if she were made of wood. She hoped that walking this way would make most people keep their distance. Semiramis preferred to keep people away for one specific reason.
Semiramis felt she not good at conversation. Not small talk, nor big talk. She was just not good at conversation period. She could talk about small things like the weather or maybe gossip but when it came down to long conversation Semiramis was convinced that she was boring. Semiramis figured that’s why she couldn’t keep friends entertained for very long. She preferred not to dwell on it, but it bothered her a bit. Due to this reason and self-doubt Semiramis didn’t really want to waste time with people for today.
She also didn’t want to dwell on anything too long because she was asked to train someone new for today, and she preferred to put her focus on the task at hand. Distracting and wandering thoughts were never a good option. They led to poor performance and poorly accomplished tasks, it was better to put her ideas or thoughts on the back of her head for now.
Semiramis walked towards the stalls and brought what was needed. Mostly fruit in case they didn’t get to catch anything. Semiramis stopped to consider. Maybe it was strange that thirty minutes had gone by and she hadn’t directed a word to Adelpha sense she introduced herself. “We are going to try to hunt for something today.” Semiramis handed Adelpha a bag of fruit expecting her to take it. “This is just in case we don’t catch anything.” She added. “Although I highly doubt that.”
She looked at the rope and waterskin, after couple of seconds she decided to purchase these as well. She figured depending on how long they were out they would probably need water. Better to be prepared than sorry. Semiramis carried the waterskin, rope, bow and arrow upon her back. Semiramis walked back to the area where she had tied down two horses. Specifically borrowed horses. Semiramis didn’t own a horse but she began to realize it was difficult to frequently borrow a horse, eventually her superiors would get tired of her borrowing one. She figured eventually it was an investment she was going to have to make.
She motioned at Adepha to take the second horse. They were going to head down the winding road toward the harbor and hopefully make it to the hillsides before daylight was gone but Semiramis figured they would make it there faster by horse.
Halfway through the ride, Semiramis felt that this trip was ill planned, at this rate it was going to become night fall. “Oh what am I going to do.. “ the words escaped her mouth before she could keep them. She hoped Adelpha didn’t hear that. Maybe stopping and doing target practice near the open hillside was better than going hunting. She stopped near a less steep area of the road, her mind going over her options.
