Please forgive my negligence in not writing sooner. Mother and I arrived in Midas but two days ago, and in this time, I have had so few moments to sit down and do so. Of course, I have not yet seen much of the city, but you can count on me telling you all there is to know regarding it once I've seen it all properly. But, do not worry! This letter shan't be composed of pure tedium. I write to you today concerning the royal banquet I attended last night.
I am not sure yet if word has reached home, but when we arrived at the docks, we were informed by Selene that King Tython was presumed dead after a shipwreck and that this banquet would be both a commemoration of the late King and a celebration of Prince Vangelis' ascension. As such, we all wore attire suiting the mood (I was very happy to find a use for the deep blue silk you found for me), and were prepared for a heavy night ahead of us.
Yet, if matters could not seem to get worse, at the beginning of the banquet, it became quickly apparent that Prince Vangelis had been poisoned. If not for the aid of some dark-haired woman (I was not properly introduced), he would have certainly been taken by Thanatos, but thank the gods he survived, and the poisoner quickly revealed himself. A member of the court!
You would think that was all, but no. At this moment, there was a sudden banging noise coming from outside the Dikastirio chamber, almost as if Zeus himself threw a thunderbolt, and it became quickly apparent by the fact that the door was battered down that there was to be a surprise attack! Yet, the man leading the unit was none other than His Majesty, King Tython. It still feels so unreal.
Though if this is good news, I have even better news.
In the events of last night, I caught the attention of none other than a Kotas. He was so informal with me, it almost felt as if he knew as clearly as I did that there was something between us. Prince Timaeus is perhaps one of the most handsome men I have ever laid eyes on (though he could never compare to you, of course), and in the chaos of last night, he ensured my protection. My heart has never beat so fast.
And, more good news! He immediately invited me to go on an outing, which we shall be going on a bit later today. Originally, it was supposed to be this afternoon, but he had to push our plans back on urgent family business, which I can only assume has to do with the events of last night. Yet, still, I cannot stop the pounding of my heart at the thought of him.
I had a bit of a struggle in figuring out what to wear, but knowing your exquisite taste, I decided to go with one of the green silks you brought back from Egypt. I can only hope he'll like it.
I shall, of course, write again and tell you everything about our excursion as soon as I can, but for now, I hope this satisfies.
Your faithful friend, Nana
