The lateness of their return to Taengea had meant that once Olympia and Tisiphone had been settled into her old bedroom, there had been no one awake and no time to greet the family she hadn't seen in months. It was strange to be back in the childhood room where she had spent so much time, with Desma, discovering she was with child, recovering after the horrors of the circus that had left her with near constant nightmares, scars, and a crown lost.
Her daughter's cries woke her in the morning, going about the duties of a mother before bringing the little one to her breast to feed. Instead of the wet nurse that might have been hired if they had kept their power, Olympia had been the one to do the feeding herself, and though it was uncomfortable at times, there was a sort of peaceful absence to the motion that soothed both mother and child. Only once Tisiphone had had her fill and was happily cooing in her clean swaddles did the girl who had once been so vain finally turn to the mirror to see to herself.
Old bottles of tonics and pins that had been left behind, pieces of jewelry that had been stacked haphazardly, perhaps things that Theo had sent back from the Palati once she had moved in, all spread over the table she had used for her routines. There was no desire or need for any of that anymore though. Her husband was at war, and she didn't know if or when she would ever see him again. She could not attend court functions by order of Achilleas, until something had been done about Stephanos' false crimes. As much as she wanted to trust her sister, she didn't know how she would feel about her husband's wishes to reinstate Stephanos as a prince of the realm.
Instead of her usual fussing, Olympia simply wound her dark curls into a low bun at the nape of her neck, dressing in a simple clean chiton of olive green and wrapping one of Stephanos' himations about her shoulders. She'd kept the important things, leaving a few bits of clothing at the Kotas residence in case he returned to Colchis before finding her again, and though it was impossible she felt as if she could still smell his comforting scent on the material as she wound it around herself. Picking up her daughter and smiling as the little girl snuggled into her mother, Olympia knew where she had to go first, following the familiar path to her parents' room and giving a knock on the door. Her father hadn't ever met his first grandchild, and she had missed him so much she was afraid she might burst into tears at the first sight of him.

Evelli had knocked out the moment she had finally gotten cleaned up, changed out of her salty travelling outfit and her head hit the bed. Even if the servants had come in to prepare the necessary basins of water and linen for their morning ablutions, Evelli had not stirred. Her body was worn out from the excessive throwing up due to the choppy seas, and after the amount of things she's went through in Colchis, she was just glad to be home, and had never felt more at ease now she was back with her husband and could happily hand off some of the issues their daughter's were facing to him.
Her slumber was so deep that when a knock on the door was sounded, Evelli merely stirred, but nudged at Georgios to get the door, her body feeling heavy with fatigue. Had age really caught up to her, that just a simple voyage would make her feel so tired now? She used to make countless trips between Vasiliadon to the Isle of Serenn, especially in her younger days when she often had to escort her daughter's to many court events and attend many herself. It was only in recent days that seasickness has begun to sink its grasps into her.
Watching as Georgios opened the door, the woman slowly pushed herself to an upright position, taking her time to let her muscles wake up as she combed a hand through her messy brunette locks, hoping to have some semblance of propriety in them rather then looking like a hornet's nest. She had natural curls, and while most people envied her and for the most part Evelli liked how much volume it gave her, it was a hassle in the morning.
Only when she recognized the voice addressing her husband, did her brows raised. She had thought Olympia would need more rest, and had instructed on a wet nurse to be hired immediately so her daughter could get more sleep instead of waking up at odd hours to feed Tisiphone, but the wet nurse would likely be coming only in the next few days. They'd have to get ready to leave for the festival in Epirus soon anyway, a festival Evelli had received a missive for and just saw when they had returned the night before. She had yet to ask her daughters if they'd want to go, but Evelli thought it would be a good distraction from what they've sailed away from.
Grabbing a twine so she could bind her braided locks until a servant could see to taming it, Evelli smoothened out her sleeping chiton, and then slowly headed to join her husband and daughter at the door, her smile softening at the granddaughter brought to meet her grandfather. "She is a beauty, is she not, Georgios?" she murmured, before reaching out to smoothen Olympia's hair, an affectionate smile for her daughter. "Did you sleep well, Pia? We'll get a wet nurse for you soon, alright?"

It was a shame that the ship came in when it did. The timing left very little in the way to be able to tend to the needs of all the women who were in his life. Including, the newest girl to grace into the family. While she might have had Stephanos name, there would be no denying this grandfather.
Evelli had distracting Georgios down and it was easy considering how fatigued she had seemed when she left and even now as she had returned. He still had concern. While he wouldn't call a physician to come in the middle of the night.. it was put on the docket of tasks that needed to be tended to. He wanted to check with Selene - whom he hadn't expected back at all. He wanted to check on Pia with the baby. That was just within the family. They were still making sure that the Capitol would stand if they were attacked.
He had wasted the early morning resting next to his wife. He had missed her more than words could explain. The need for so much sleep should have been more urgent, but he couldn't get mad about the extra time with his arm around her. Until there was a sound at the door. Georgios had patted Evelli in a silent encouragement to just stay as he raised up and wrapped a piece of clothing appropriate for who might be standing for his attention.
A broad smile crossed his lips and his voice was loud when he noticed that it was Pia and the baby. "Tisiphone." His hands were held out to take the child into his arms. Perhaps it made him odd... or it was the others that were odd for not taking pride in the next generation. He didn't care as he quickly stole the child away without any sort of permission from Olympia. "And Pia, my darling." He leaned forward and pressed his cheek to hers. Though his attention was soon back on the baby as he made his brows move up and down.
"There was no doubt that she could be anything less. She comes from a long line of beautiful women." Georgios garnered a charming grin to Evelli and then it turned something quite confused. "Didn't you have a wet nurse in Colchis or the ship ride back?" He acted as though he hadn't made sure that his daughter would have everything. Course, she wasn't supposed to be his to cater to anymore. That was the husband.

As she had expected the sight of her father after spending months away living in fear that she might never see him or home again brought the beginnings of tears to her eyes. Smiling widely she allowed him to take Tisiphone from her, not that there was much of a choice given how eagerly he was reaching. With her own hands still hovering close out of an instinctive need to protect her daughter, though if anyone had enough experience that she could relax it would be her own parents, Pia watched as the two met for the first time.
She was afraid for a moment that Tisi would cry, the only men she had spent any length of time with were Stephanos and Zanon after all, but it seemed the game her father was playing with his eyebrows was doing the trick. After a moment of open mouthed, wide eyed surprise, the little girl instantly reaching up to try to grab hold of her grandfather's face with a squawking cry of delight. The breath she didn't know she had been holding was released, and Olympia leaned into her father's embrace before stepping closer to her mother.
The talk of a wet nurse though made her anxious, not at all liking the idea that someone else would be in charge of her child after two months. It wasn't as if she was going to rejoin court anytime soon or become a great lady. Until Stephanos was through at war, she didn't know if she would be able to linger in Taengea for any length of time, and she wouldn't stay here if her husband could not be with her.
"It's alright, Mama. I prefer to do it myself." Her father's question made her bristle slightly in defense, but she knew he was simply trying to look out for their wellbeing. She was the first to have gotten married and passed into her husband's care, and now well. She hadn't asked for a wet nurse in Colchis, on the ship it simply wasn't possible. By the time they'd landed in the midst of her darkness it felt as if feeding Tisiphone was the only thing keeping her alive, even if she had cried every time she'd done it.
"I got so used to it on the ship by the time we landed in Colchis I didn't think to ask for one. Does she seem to not be getting enough?" Here her brow furrowed in concern, wondering if her parents saw something in her daughter that she could not. Was she not feeding her enough? Was there something wrong with her body? Leaning self-consciously against her mother's side, she was distracted as another shriek came from Tisiphone, one she recognized as being distinctly similar to her Aunt Nana when she had felt she wasn't the center of attention any longer. With a sigh and a smile, she reached out and found one of the girl's little feet through the swaddling, giving it a tickle and leaning close so she could show her she was still nearby.
"I know my sweet, how dare we look away from your highness."

It was as if the very presence of his young grandchild was enough to shave years off Georgios, and Evelli couldn't help the small smile gracing her face as she observed her husband with the young child of barely two months, coming to three. "We weren't at the liberty to get one, if you remember." she murmured in wry reminder to Georgios, although she wasn't surprised her husband had asked such a question. He would've likely laid the world at Tisiphone's little feet, and in extension, to Olympia as well. Evelli was the realist between the two.
Turning to Olympia when she spoke, Evelli raised a brow when her daughter refused it, a little surprised. While Evelli had personally cared for each daughter, she had hired a wet nurse for the night feeds as well as for when she had to attend to court sessions, each daughter saw a need for the wet nurse more, and by the time Imma was born, the nurse had been indispensible for Evelli had to see to the care of each her girls, that sleep had been golden when she could get it.
"No sweetheart, its is simply that with one, you would be able to get much more sleep. You looked tired, sweetpea." she murmured, bringing the back of her hand up to brush against the weary look her daughter wore. It was one Evelli had herself when she had been a new mother, constantly fussing over the newborn Selene's every needs. With every birth, she had fussed less, but the weariness never really wore off until Imma had turned five, at least. "Tisiphone is perfect, but we're worried for you instead." she reassured, repositioning her arm to give her daughter a tight hug.
When her granddaughter shrieked, Evelli's first reaction had been to reach out, but she wasn't even halfway there when Olympia was already there, and the smile that broke out was a given as she watched her daughter, and then shot a tired but understanding look at Georgios. Their daughters are now grown up, and as much as they'd like to deny such a thing. Olympia has come into being a mother herself, and was a natural at handling the young infant.
Leaning in to press a soft kiss to her husband's cheek, Evelli also pressed one to the side of Olympia's head, and then one to the laughing cherub's forehead, before taking a step back away from her little family. As much as she didn't wish to, she had to see to the rest of the girls to ensure they were ready for the trip to Epirus. "I'll leave you two to catch up - Pia, the carriage to bring us to Epirus will be up front, alright? Take your time with Papa. You know how long Nana takes to get ready." she teased with a laugh, and then exited the room to check on the rest of her brood.

His arms cradled the sweet little child as he drew in for a nose to nose contact with Tisiphone. Georgios looked up when both of the women were quick to respond with excuses for which his daughter did not have a wet nurse in tow for her entire pregnancy. If Stephanos had been smart... the woman would have been hired prior to even leaving. Be damned the chaos that was happening around all of his daughters. It was amazing that he was managing any sleep at all. Maybe because so much of the political moving parts were passed off to his brother Fotios.
"She is beautiful and perfect, Pia." He honestly had not meant to worry his daughter about the looks of the child. Considering the trips the young infant had already taken in her short lifetime, Tisiphone was looking very well.
The screech just made him smile larger. It was not the kind that meant that she was in any danger - well if lack of attention for a moment would cause damage to her. Fussing was not a reason to pass off this time with his granddaughter, but he did give a look in Pia's direction when she called the young baby 'your highness'. Maybe it was innocent passing of the tongue, but he wouldn't have anything be misunderstood - even if being niece of the current queen gave the child plenty of importance. Maybe he was even over reacting and so he said nothing.
Georgios gave a nod in Evelli's direction. She spoke entirely the truth. He would have enough time to hold the baby while Nana was getting ready to go. "It will be good for you to go to the festival, Pia." Things were restless, at least in his own mind he had to battle between which daughter was dealing with the most sorrow. Whose despair was more important than the others when they all seemed to be suffering at once. He gently bounced and swayed in a way that naturally came when holding a baby. "Are you fairing alright? No holding back now... you can talk to your Papa always."

Though hesitant to admit how tired she truly was, looking after the child of nearly three months was far easier than it had been at the beginning, Olympia couldn't help but to allow her tension to deflate slightly at her mother's words. She was home again, among the people she loved and trusted most in the world, and she believed them. She had been exhausted, ever since Stephanos had boarded the ship that would take him south and further from her than he'd been since they were married. Embracing her mother she gave a nod at the reminder that they would be leaving for the festival, watching her go before turning back to her father.
Without Tisiphone in her arms she felt too light, an emptiness in her chest without husband or child to embrace. Pia wrapped her arms around herself as she watched her father interact with his first grandchild, a smile on her lips even as she rocked slowly on instinct. Even without her baby held to her chest she couldn't help the motion, it soothed her just as much. She gave a nod, the festival would be a good chance for her to return home, without any big fanfare but with an opportunity she hoped to see her sisters and mother in law. If nothing else she wanted them to meet the newest Mikaelidas child and know that when she saw him last, Stephanos was well and safe. How safe he would stay with the man who destroyed her sister's happiness was a bitter taste on her tongue.
"I am...." How could she say all that she felt? No holding back would be too much for a new return, and yet all she wanted was to release the swirl of fear and doubt and frustration that had been building in her for far too long. "I am tired, Papa. I think I must still be recovering from her birth, because I feel sick and weak often. It was..not easy." She still woke with nightmares of the night that Tisiphone had been born. Her little blessing had very nearly killed her on the rolling waves, the bleeding had taken too long to stop, and without the aid of a midwife she feared most that she was broken. That she would never bear another child.
Tears sprang to her eyes and she sank down onto the nearest kline, hiding her face in her hands for a moment before wiping at her cheeks and trying to smile. "And I'm afraid. My husband is at war with a man who ruined Selene's happiness, I cannot wish ill without risking Stephanos. And if he doesn't come back...who would want me then? I don't think I could ever love someone else, and then I would just be a burden to you and Mama even more."

Sixteen years was a long time to dig back into his memories for how Evelli felt after each of the pregnancies. Each daughter came with their own personalities, own birth stories, and own struggles as they grew. There were wet nurses and nannies to handle some of the children when it was too much and Georgios had attempted to be there to help as often as he could. Olympia had none of those luxuries so far. But, Evelli and he were going to provide them whether she liked it or not. It was what she deserved, even if it was coming out of his pocket instead of Stephanos. He didn't like to see his daughter suffer.
Tisiphone was rotated so that she could be held against his chest with one arm and her head against his shoulder. A light bounce or two and then he was returning his attention to be on Olympia when she continued as he had hoped. He had always offered to be a sounding board. He could listen to each daughter and not share it any further. Sometimes, he didn't even tell Evelli if it wasn't that important. He wanted them to trust in him and know that he would be there with no judgement.
A deep breath was pulled in through his nose and then released out his mouth as he sat down on the same kline as Pia. He used his free arm to curve around and cradle Olympia as he was also holding the dear granddaughter. This was not something new, but it had been a long time since he wrangled Imma in his arms and attempted to soothe Selene, Theodora, or Olympia.
"Do not worry about Selene. I will take care of that. You have enough to burden yourself with. You are allowed to worry about your husband." Complicated. The ins and outs of the deals that transferred around with the small supply of royals among the kingdoms was complicated. It was hard not to involve emotions, they always got intertwined and twisted by the deals that were made. He always thought it made it seem like they weren't people at all... just dolls that some bigger force was playing with.
Another audible sigh released, but not the bothered kind. It was the embodiment of worry attempting to escape his body. "Stephanos will come back... but I do not ever want you to think that you are a burden to your mother and I. That is never how I feel about any of you. I am happy to have you safe and glad to see my grand child. There is nothing for you to worry about, you see?" A palm expanded and rubbed her upper back.

As soon as her father sat next to her Olympia was tucking against his side, feeling like a small child again in his embrace. Reaching for Tisiphone's little foot she brought it to her lips for kisses to try to distract herself, the shrieking giggles of joy bringing a tired smile back to the young mother. She nodded as he gave her permission to worry about her husband, though it was difficult to try to put her sister's happiness from her mind. Without Selene's help she would have died so many times over, birthing Tisiphone, sailing to Colchis, trying to care for a child on her own. The little luxuries that had been given to them in the room of the Kotas manor had not included any help with the child, it had all been done between the three Taengeans.
"I worry he'll do something foolish. He's accustomed to being a general and charging into battle. But we can't lose him as honorable as they will declare his death. No one will want a disgraced queen. Especially one who's sister happily took her place without guilt."
Her tone was bitter now, even her father's reassurance that she would want for nothing if anything happened to her husband. She knew full well that as much as he wished to be able to care for her with four other daughters to fret over even once they were married there was only so much her parents could do. And if Tisiphone was not a princess, but still declared a traitor's daughter, what sort of marriage would be available for her when the time came? What dowry could she offer that would entice anyone to ensure that her daughter was cared for when the time came?
Expecting some sort of retaliation for her comment about her sister, Pia gave a sigh and pulled back, arms wrapping around herself once more as she watched Tisiphone reaching for her grandfather's face. She was so bright for one so young, seeming determined to grab hold of everything she could reach and bringing it immediately to her mouth. It had prevented the wearing of any jewelry and metal fibulae, not that she had much since she'd had to flee without everything she owned. All of her pieces were in Theodora's possession now. Even the things she had brought from home. All of her clothing, the nursery that she had spent four months preparing for her daughter, the little wardrobe and toys that had been accumulated. She'd been left with nothing.
"Nothing for me to worry about as I have nothing but her to call my own anymore."

Well, that happened to be a statement that Georgios had no rebuttal for. It was quite possible that Stephanos of Mikaelidas would rush in and do something foolish. It all was dependent on what he felt he could accomplish in the war. Would he think that he could come back and be a war hero? Would that put him in a good place with no more attempt at the throng? Or perhaps if he could prove himself more than Achilles that he would show that he was not the usurper they were all demanding that he was. Georgios kept a tight lip on the opinion regarding either of his son-in-laws. As a citizen he probably should have had an opinion, but as a father he knew that he could not.
"Olympia... my dearest. While we should be prepared for any outcome, it is best to pray to the gods for the best one." The one that she felt was the best for her situation no matter how many different ways it might conflict with her sister's needs. Georgios had made the decision in his mind to keep his own close kin in higher regard than most anyone else in Taengea. In his secret pleadings of the Gods he wanted them all to be happy. However, he was finding it difficult to find the right words so no one would come to harm. He was no liar and he would not placate one daughter for the sake of the other.
His brows lowered some with a bit of concern. "You think that she has no guilt? Why do you assume that?" Georgios soon thought that he had missed something while he was ill or perhaps away. He had no idea that they were no on good terms for any reasons other than the conflicting husbands.
Finally, he sighed. "That is untrue. You have a husband who is sure to come home. You have four sisters and a mother who love you very much. You have a room here as long as you need it. And you have me... who is more than glad to spoil you and this baby with whatever your heart desires right now. Like maybe some sleep?" He brought the conversation almost full circle with a light kiss to Tisiphone's temple. There was a certain way that babies smelled and it made him soft.

"I have prayed to the gods every day, father. They do not hear me." Tears had welled up in her eyes and she shook her head to try to prevent them from falling. "Ares bless my husband, keep him safe. I would do anything to see him home victorious." The words were spoken out of habit but it was a prayer that held truth, she would do anything the god required if it meant Stephanos was brought home safe and sound, all the more if he was a champion, and even the more if he was granted his rightful place back in the world.
Her father's question had her pursing her lips to think on the words she should say instead of spitting out the venom that had been building for her older sister. "She has never once written. Achilleas wrote seeking after us to make sure we were well, she never did, she didn't care so long as she was queen instead of me. And when I wrote, begging to be allowed to come home with Mama and Nana, Achilleas wrote back again instead of her. Never a word of 'your sister wishes you well'. She knew where I was as long as he did and she didn't care to ask after me or my daughter." This time she couldn't keep the bitterness from her tongue. "And she kept all of my things. The jewelry, the clothes. The nursery and toys for Tisiphone. She never cared for me."
As she'd spoken Olympia had curled further from her father, into more of a pitiful ball on the corner of the kline. He'd asked her to tell him all, but what was he supposed to do? Choose the happiness of one daughter over another? As long as there was conflict he would be forced to do so in one way or another. He couldn't comfort her now without making Theo sound bad, and if he tried to make excuses for the reason her older sister had not so much as batted a lash her way since taking her place, it would only hurt her more.
The suggestion of sleep was a tempting one. Perhaps if she slept she would feel less spite for her sister, less fear for her husband. Or perhaps she would continue to have the nightmares that she'd had since the chaos at the Circus that only shifted to include the further horrors she'd witnessed. Shaking her head she swallowed down the nausea that had been building, tucking her feet beneath her as she watched her father and daughter together.
"I just want to make sure she's happy. And safe. Irakles is dead but people who conspired with him might still want to kill us. To finish it all."

There was nothing more to do other than the prayers. Georgios had no intent to go to war with the younger of the soldiers so soon after recovering. He did not particularly like war to begin with, but it didn't meant that he was useless. There was brute strength in his body, when he was feeling one hundred percent. And he couldn't in good faith go with perhaps becoming a burden rather than help to the cause. Though, now he wondered if going and standing by making sure that his daughters' husbands were okay... but which one was more important?
"I understand... Holding spite will only make you feel worse and will not affect how she feels." His hand brushed gently over the curve of the baby's head. The soft hair reminded him just how delicate they were when they were young. They all grew up. He could hardly walk into the palace and scold the Queen of Taengea for her behavior towards her sister. Not like he once did when they were small. There was a small part of him that was contemplating marching in and at least retrieving some of what Olympia had taken to the palati, it was hers fair and square wasn't it? Gifts from before she had even taken residence there. Theodora would know that... should know what pieces they were.
He let out a deep sigh. It would take some thought and perhaps careful conversation with Theodora to fix some of what was wrong right now. That was if it could ever even be right. While he was generally an optimist, it was hard to see the positive outcomes through all of this.
"She appears content and safe to me." He pulled his arm away from Olympia so that he could use both hands to lay Tisiphone back in his lap. A smile returned to his lips as he watched in awe. "Go rest... I will be near. And I would never let anything happen to you. Not while you are here." Georgios stood back up with a moment to lean and pressed a gentle kiss to Olympia's temple. "It is not a question this time." His voice transitioned into something much more in the realm of what a father says goes. "I will stay near with her in case she needs you... we can talk more when you wake."

She couldn't stop the tears from rolling down her cheeks, and she swiped at them in annoyance even as she tried to smile down at her daughter. Tisiphone was switching her gaze between mother and grandfather, as if trying to ensure that all was well enough for her to be her usual charming self. Watching as the baby was laid down in Georgios' lap, she sniffed at the last of her momentary tears as the little girl reached for her. She brushed at the wisps of blonde hair that were identical to Stephanos', the little blue eyes that watched her just as much belonging to the Mikaelidas family.
A little sound that was half a shriek half a laugh came from the baby as her mother leaned over to kiss her forehead before nodding at her father's request. Sleep would do her some good, and the only grandfather still living should have the chance to get to know his first grandchild.
"If she needs anything, wake me. She should be alright for a time.."
Instead of leaving the room after her father's kiss to her temple, Olympia laid herself on the kline, watching the two together as her eyes fell heavy. She didn't know how long she slept, only that she finally did and when her eyes blinked open once more she felt more rested than she had in ages. Perhaps knowing she was safe with her family, that they were in her father's house and not someplace foreign, that no one would try to kill them here, it had allowed her the opportunity to relax far deeper than she had since before her daughter was born.
Pia watched the two of them together in silence before moving, a smile on her lips at the sight of the generations of Leventi blood swaying together. Tisphone was three months old now, growing so quickly and beautifully that she could hardly believe the girl was her own. For such a horrific night, a draining birth, she had been given such an incredible gift. The sadness took hold of her still, but the shadows had grown slowly further apart thanks to the little smile that greeted her every time she looked to her girl.
"How is she, Papa?"

Georgios always seemed to have a gift when it came to children, especially infants. Perhaps that was why he found it so easy to be more involved in his daughters lives than he needed to. Even when they were at festivals, hunts, and gatherings he often attempted to sneak away from the adults to play childish games. Far from omniloquent, Georgios found that his brother was far more equipped to deal with the more serious conversations. There was no need to embarrass the Leventi House with a wrong idea.
This was a moment he had waited months and months for. From the very moment she had announced she was pregnant he looked forward to becoming a grandfather. It was his only chance to hold a baby again since he and Evelli had not been able to conceive for sixteen long years. They had hoped for some time, but lately they discussed how over it was. How they were to enjoy the next phase of their lives as support to their five daughters. That was just what he was doing right now.
Tisiphone already had her grandfather wrapped around her wee fingers literally as his large finger was gnawed on. It was what he could do to make Pia's nap as long as possible. There were so many tricks he had learned when he wanted to allow Evelli to sleep longer when the nannies would give up or he would demand audience with each of the infants. They were his children.
They had been in their own little world until he heard the soft voice of Olympia. Lips curved and brown eyes glanced in her direction. "Perfect." His strides were slow as he rounded back to the seat Pia had chosen as her makeshift bed. He gave Tisi a kiss to the temple and rubbed a slightly rough cheek against hers to tickle some. Then he handed the child back to Olympia. "More importantly, how are you now?"
He hoped that she would feel rested and maybe allowed some of her worries to wash away. They could go make prayers where they needed to later and he was planning on attempting some conversation with Theodora. The last he had heard she was trying to help get her sister back, not keep her kicked out.

Holding out her arms for her daughter, she crossed her legs before her and pressed kisses to the girl's temples and cheeks with a smile as Tisiphone squealed. If she had nothing else in her life, and all was lost, at the very least this beautiful creature was hers. A grateful gaze was tipped up to her father as he hovered close by. Being home was already infinitely easier than her time in Colchis had been, closer to how she had hoped her motherhood would be. In all of her daydreams of having children, she was surrounded by help and family, living in a comfortable home of her own with a man she loved, always Stephanos. It had not occurred the way she thought it would, but now back home perhaps it would begin to change.
"Thank you, Papa." His follow up question set thin shoulders up and down in a shrug, the lingering exhaustion that was no doubt from the trip still held on. "I'll be alright. Much better than I have been, once we recover from sailing so long I'm sure it will be easier."
Rubbing at her eyes with one hand, she winced as Tisiphone caught hold of a dark curl and immediately tried to put it into her mouth. With a shake of her head and a wry smile set on her lips, Pia tugged her hair out of the child's mouth and tossed the damp lock back with no sound of expression of disgust as might have happened before. Somehow the selfish child she had been when she left vanished in light of having one of her own, the squeals and whines akin to Nana's own tantrums at a rumpled hairstyle and dirtied gown gone without a trace.
Motherhood wasn't something she had thought she would be any good at, fully anticipating the help and guidance of family and maids who knew better. The arrival of Tisiphone had been challenging in so many ways, and she had no one but Selene to rely on in the early days. She did not have the luxury to linger in her weakness and misery, though it was thanks to her sister that she was still alive to hold her daughter now, and as time went on she fond that Tisi was her reason to live more than anything else.
"Prince Zanon offered his son as a husband for her. But it seems far too soon to even consider it. I don't know how I'll ever be ready to let her go."
