Ladies and gents and everyone in between! We have a new feature on-going on Aeipathy! Yes, you heard that right! We have some Divine Curveballs coming you way...
You all know by now (I hope) what a Curveball is... but now we're going to have a few more of them on a slightly more random scale because they will not be controlled by me - they will be created by our Gods! Not their personas either. The Gods.
Here is the snippet from our Religion and Deities page that describes this new feature and how it works...
DIVINE CURVEBALLS
Here at Aeipathy, we have a system in place in which our staff throw Curveballs at characters, events, plots - you name it! Basically, if a story or character is needing something more to do, or a communal Event needs a new direction, a Curveball is thrown their way. This Curveball is immediately IC and is only ever directed at one character in particular with the permission of their creator.
For the divine, Curveballs can be thrown at communal Events and Stories or personal rp threads whenever and however that God chooses. Provided that the Curveball is within that God's specific ballpark (water-based for Poseidon, for example) and is cast with a reason behind it, all Curveballs are permitted.
The restrictions on these Curveballs are simple: One, they must all go through our Head Admin JD, so that global and kingdom plots can be checked for any crossovers or conflicts. And two, each God may only bring a Curveball into play once every IC month, so that our characters are not inundated or overwhelmed. Gods are also encouraged (though this is not enforced) to spread their Curveballs around so that they do not focus on a single kingdom. Curveballs are only permitted in the Realms of which that God is worshipped: Olympians in the Greek kingdoms, Kemetics in Egypt.
Please note that, from a character perspective, these Curveballs will be seen as freak accidents or changes. It is down to individual characters and their own personal religious beliefs whether they believe these shifts or changes to be attributable to a particular God, or to the Gods at all. OOC-wise, our players are always aware if a God has thrown a spanner into the works.
For Curveballs in Judea and Bedoa, our staff team continue to create story twists and may even send down dreams or visions to certain characters who can choose to believe they were sent by their ancestors or Yahweh to their liking.
Please also be aware that our Gods are steadily working on their profiles with more information regarding stuff like, how to please them, how to make them wrathful and likely to grab their lightning bolts, where you can worship them and how you can show your loyalty and worship to them specifically (any particular flowers Aphrodite likes, or particular sacrificial ceremonies that are in favour with Ares for example). This should help our mortal characters side step any potential difficulties, or aim for some nice blessings or preferential Curveballs!
Just remember that all God interactions (while we as OOC will know when a God curveballs and which God it was) our characters do not. The events themselves will not be something wholly supernatural - they will be perfectly random but also perfectly explanatory. This means that it is still down to your characters and their personal beliefs on who and what they believe - even with supposed acts of Gods happening around them.
Hoping you're all gonna like this new feature! Things are about to get hella interesting around here!! <3
