With the royal family settled, Dion assured of safety, and her husband along with his brothers busy ensuring the rest of the city and its residents were fine after the fire caused by the mining accident, Evras finally found the time between helping Asia prepare for her departure to Taengea and for the court session to be held at the end of the week, to head over for a visit to her family household. It probably didn't help that Zanon had been loathed to let Evras leave his sight after she had accidentally got caught in the fire the last time she had left alone.
This time, her husband had taken precautions, and warned Evras to not leave the Kotas household without the appropriate retinue. So as the pale princess left the household on the back of a chestnut mare, she was flanked by guards on either side, and half a dozen more in the front and back of her. Evras did not enjoy the attention it drew from having so many of the Kotas guards and their armor clanging as she made her way to her family residence, but Zanon had not allowed her to leave otherwise.
So the woman complied, her white and navy blue chiton draped over her legs as she urged her steed down the road. It did not take long, for the distance between the Kotas and Thanasi households were not great.
Instructing the guards to wait in the foyer as she arrived, the youngest of the Thanasi sisters greeted the few slaves and servants whom she had known in the household for as long as she had grew up, before asking one of them on the availability of her siblings. Knowing full well Nethis was away in Taengea, but would be due to return soon, instead, Evras went in search of her brothers. Mihail had been appropriately freaked out by the fire, that much Evras knew, so she wanted to check on the baby of the family. However, she had also not seen Dysius in quite awhile, and was eager to check on both brothers, as she went in search of them in the family wing of the mansion.

Things had been different since the fire not so long ago and since Mihail had met with one Timaeus of Valaoritis. It was the first time he had felt true grief, or, at least, the first time he could remember feeling such emotion. He had heard of other's deaths, and he had experienced his Mother's death many years ago, but neither had affected him all too much. Honestly, he could not imagine a version of himself that had even cared when Mother had died. This was entirely new to him, and it had taken more out of the young man than he had expected. It had thrown off that cynical outward shell he usually wore, replaced it with something more melancholy and yet more vicious. He was not in his natural state.
He had taken solace in his sports, stood in the garden shooting his arrows from morning until he had been forced back inside the house; attempted to calm his mind by thinking of his beloved Euphemia and yet only finding his thoughts crowded by other miseries instead. He had spent the time sulking, that much he would not deny. Dysius would have made fun of him, and Thea would have somehow attempted to console him, but he was not in the mood for either of them just yet. In all honesty, the only person he wished to see was Evras. She was a mother, she had more knowledge than any of his other siblings in the art of comforting, and he had not seen her since they had both been trapped in the fire. Mihail only wanted to see his favourite sister (although the title of 'favourite sister' appeared to be passed around with his mood).
It was thus quite the pleasant surprise when he heard that his older sister had arrived for one of her visits. The servant who had alerted him of her presence had been tentative in doing so - a wise move, considering he had been holding a loaded bow at the time and had not been in the greatest of moods as of late - but had informed Mihail that Evras was looking for him and his brother. Admittedly, he was a little miffed to hear that Dysius too was receiving such attention from the woman, especially so when he liked to deem himself the preferred out of all her siblings, but he had decided not to complain too much, instead offering the messenger some vague thanks for the knowledge and retired back into the house to find his sister.
"Evras!" he called out once he had seen her at the end of the hallway, clearly searching for either himself or Dysius. He had put on a brighter face to greet her, rushing forwards with the kind of excitement that would be rare to see from him were you not a close relative or, in fact, his beloved, though it was still somehow darker than the usual. "Evras. How are you? We have not spoken since the fire." Mihail's words were somewhat obviously stiffer than the norm, a certain detachment to them that his sister would likely notice as he moved to wrap arms around her in a tight hug. "I've missed you."

It was always a treat to watch Perseus run. The dog's movements were swift, his form svelte, and he shot across the grounds with a freedom of movement that Dysius couldn't help but envy, even as he himself remained almost unnaturally still, sharp eyes tracking every movement as he waited the inevitable return of his beloved hound.
Loyalty was a trait to be cultivated and praised, after all, and just as there were no creatures on earth more loyal than a dog, so too were there no creatures on earth more guaranteed to bring a smile to Dysius' face, and with tensions running so high, he needed something to smile about, even if the smile itself was a thin one, weighty and tired and tense.
Even though the fires were gone from the streets, he sometimes felt as though he could still taste the thick smoke in the air, smothering him from within the walls of the Thanasi estate. He didn't dare ask his siblings if they felt the same thing, if only because he knew what his own reaction would be were someone to ask him, and so he disengaged, leaving Mihail to his sulking and Thea to her devices. With Nethis gone, it wasn't as though Dysius had anyone to truly interact with anyway, and so it was more than a little surprising when he noticed one of the slaves loitering nearby, hands clasped and head slightly bowed.
Dysius exhaled. "Speak," he said sharply, for once gleaning no satisfaction from the way the man jumped, lifting his head to reveal wary amber eyes, but his irritation at being interrupted bled into surprise when he learned of Evras' presence within the estate. He gave a sharp whistle, expression softening briefly as Perseus immediately raced to his side before he gave the slave a curt nod and took off, heading towards where his sister would doubtless be.
He was only slightly bitter at the fact that Mihail had clearly arrived before he had, but that bitterness was enough to have him holding back slightly, resting a hand unconsciously on Perseus' head as the dog panted beside him.
"Evras," he greeted, unwilling to move to embrace her with Mihail so close, not blind to his brother's stiffer tone, something that made his brow furrow slightly before he smoothed it out. Whatever was going through his brother's mind, he was pleased to see his sister again; to have visual confirmation that she was, indeed, safe. He raised his hand in a small, informal wave, the ever-present bangles that adorned his wrist chiming slightly as they moved together. "Your presence has been missed, as always."

Mihail had arrived first -of that, Evras found herself unsurprised. Her youngest brother had always been a bit of the baby of the family, even if none of the actually said the words out loud. Mihail was eccentric in his own ways, but he was a pleasant soul who, while having the same Thanasi streak as the rest of them, meant well by all his siblings. The pale lady grinned when she saw him at the end of the hallway, and she greeted him in kind, albeit frowning as he enveloped her in a hug.
In his embrace, Evras returned it with a squeeze of her own. Fully intending to ask if all was right as they pulled back however, her question never made it past her lips, for Dysius chose that moment to appear.
Glancing over when her second brother spoke, Dysius closest to her age but far in terms of personality. In that aspect, Evras would have to admit that he was far closer to Nethis then he ever would be to her - but it wasn't a fact to be looked down upon. The Thanasi household was known to operate on their own rules. Dysius was one of them.
But just because she did not share the same views and values as her brother and elder sister, did not mean Evras loved them any less. So when Dysius greeted her in an informal wave, the woman laughed, taking the hand he used to wave and using it to tug him forward. In place, Evras presented him a familial kiss on his cheek, grinning as she pulled back, knowing Dysius probably did not enjoy it.
Eyes falling on the dog by his heels, the woman bent down to give Perseus's head a light pat, before her eyes flicked upwards. Falling first on Mihail, and then on Dysius. Deciding to go for the safe route first, she directed her first words at Dysius. "It's great to see you safe as well, little brother." Straightening up, the woman moved to stand next to Dysius, but reached out to take the hand of her youngest sibling and give it a squeeze. Evras had always been perceptive, even more so after she had given birth to Dion. "What's the matter, Mihail? You do not seem yourself. Has something happened?" The question was directed at Dysius as well - Evras relied on her sibings to update her ever since she had moved to stay with the Kotas residence, occasionally returning with her husband and son to Oreboea. As much as she'd like it, she was no longer as in touch with the news as she'd like, so she greatly relied on her siblings.

Urgh, Dysius was such a spoilsport. Mihail pulled away from his sister at his brother's approach, expression naturally turning to a frown as he too greeted Evras. The other seemed irritable as ever, accompanied by that hound the youngest Thanasi so disliked after it had once, so he enjoyed claiming to his each of his siblings, so harassed his own pet (an allegation which was close to impossible, given just how venomous and aggressive Draco was). Had he not had the slightest of care for his brother and the most obvious of fear for his eldest sister's wrath, Mihail might have gotten rid of the beast himself. Instead, however, he merely kept his distance, eyeing Dysius with a look which mildly implied he would prefer the man remove Perseus while the three of them were conversing.
"I am distraught," he announced over-dramatically, raising the hand Evras had taken to the sky as though to accentuate further exactly how he was feeling. Of course, the dramatics did nought but make his claims of distress appear less believable but, indeed, it served as little more than a method to cover up exactly how upset he was. Dysius might have seen him moping around the house in his own way, but he had done a damned good job of stopping the man from realising the extent of it. Outside of the noticeable dip in his demeanour since his return from Eubocris, little else had come to light. Still, if there was ever a time to take advantage of his siblings' curiosity for his own desires for their attention, 'twas now.
Laying his free hand over his heart, Mihail glanced between his sister and brother as though to wait until he could be sure they were both fixed on what he might have to say. "As you might both be aware, I have been spending many a night with my dearest Tryphon." Evras would certainly have known since she had caught him in bed with the man on one still humiliating occasion, but Mihail had never deemed to share such a fact with his older brother, and he imagined the only clue the man would have was the constant appearance of the long-haired merchant's son in the Thanasi home. "And, as you most certainly know, an awful fire has ravaged the city of Midas. I still consider myself so lucky I managed to escape, not to mention keep my beloved sister safe." He tilted his head to the side, smiling up at her in that cutesy way he always had around his sister. "But there were so many casualties, and my beloved..." Mihail sniffed loudly, eyes now cast downwards, "Tryphon perished in the flames. I even visited Pieria to find his family and my nightmare was confirmed. There is barely a body!"
It might have begun as half a ploy for attention but, nonetheless, Mihail could not help but begin to let the tears flow, releasing his grip on Evras's hand and instead, wrapping his arms around his brother, for Dysius seemed to be stood closer at that moment than his sister. "I've been so lonely!" he sobbed into his brother's shoulder, still drastically overplaying it, although the emotions and tears behind it all were very much real.

Evras would certainly have known since she had caught him in bed with the man on one still humiliating occasion, but Mihail had never deemed to share such a fact with his older brother, and he imagined the only clue the man would have was the constant appearance of the long-haired merchant's son in the Thanasi home.

As Mihail's dramatic reactions got more and more over the top, Evras hid a smile when Dysius flinched as their youngest sibling flounced himself around the elder brother, more so after the elder male had just found out his brother had a lover, who he had obvioulsy been bringing home. The look of mortification on Dysius's face couldn't be clearer, and taking pity on her younger brother, Evras swallowed her laugh, as she approached Mihail.
Untangling his arms from around Dysius's shoulder (to which the elder Thanasi male quickly stepped back far from Mihail's reach, though not leaving yet), Evras patted her youngest brother's arms gently, a soothing sort of touch, much as she would do for him when he was younger and tripped or fell as he ran, whilst he learned how to walk.
"I am sure you are very distraught, Mihail. However, at least know that Tryphon is no longer in pain?" it was cliche, but Evras was grasping at straws here to try and at least tone down the overdramaticness of her youngest sibling's theatrics.
Slinging an arm around Mihail's shoulders, she gave it a squeeze, and started guiding him towards the stairs, where she intended to bring him to his room. Whispering over her shoulders, she hissed at Dysius to bring some wine to the room, before further soothing whatever sobs that Mihail would come up with in the most quiet tone ever. There was always a reason why, while Nethis took up the mantle of leader, and Thea took upon herself to protect her siblings, it was Evras who got the maternal side of things.
