Silanos had no idea where he was. Surrounded by people, he only knew a couple of them by name but it was not a cause for concern. With a cup of wine in his hand and a healthy dose of stimulant already running in his veins he was happy enough.
They were somewhere towards the outskirts of the city he thought. Or at least it had seemed like a fair old walk until someone who knew a someone who’d passed by in a carriage had seen them all pile in. And they had ended up here.
The house was well appointed, he and the fellows he’d arrived with had been shown into a large hall where there were already a few lords and ladies gathered. Silanos was doing his best to appear less intoxicated than he was, but the Bard drank hard, and keeping up with him had been a challenge for the Colchian Lord. Still, he wove through the crowds, taking in the ladies on their finery and the men in almost as much and decided he liked Taengea.
These people knew how to have fun. The wine was always pouring, there was always some celebration of something , somewhere, and he’d struck up a friendship with a lesser Lord who was great at making sure they made to almost each and everyone.
Sil paused to smile at a pretty girl, but made a quick retreat as he almost walked smack bang into who could only be her husband or lover if the look he gave Silanos was anything to go by. Not worth the trouble. Instead he propped himself against a wall and watched the dancers who span and dipped in the centre of the room. Whatever Kreios had sold him this time made everything sharp and bright and it was fascinating watching the swirl of the ladies gowns and the light that bounced off the jewels they wore. He took another sip of wine and rolled his shoulders.
The Lord had been in Taengea almost a year now, moving around, using the pretence of ‘studying the arts’ if anyone asked what kept him away from Colchis so long. The truth of it was more complicated and less suited to small talk, so Sil simply did not speak of it. Tried not to think of it too, and it was helpful in that Taengea was so kind in offering her distractions.
Still he tired of his own company and thoughts, and ambling over to where Hesiodos had paused to set down his lyre and partake in some of the -rather good in his opinion- wine. Sil gave the man a nod and then lifted his chin towards a girl he did not think he’d seen before.
“Do you know who that is?” He asked, looking back to the bard. Silanos had fallen in with the fellow some time ago, they seemed to end up in the same places quite a lot and he enjoyed the man’s zest for life, and fun. He thought if he had been so inclined he might have been able to enjoy him in other ways too, but Silanos’ attentions lay firmly with the gentler sex, and it was this that had him interrupt the bard now.
The girl could only have been his age, Silanos mused as he took the luxury of giving her a once over from a distance. With hair a sort of burnished gold colour, she stood out amongst the dark heads, and was not hard on the eye. “Play something Hesiodos” he urged, taking a swift of wine and setting his cup down. “ I’m going to ask her to dance.”
And with that, the young lord was gone, crossing the room to where the blonde beauty stood. He sauntered rather than walked, tall and wearing an insolent sort of smile that showed his white teeth. His eyes, as they came to rest upon the girls face, had a hard glitter only bestowed by the vial he’d swallowed before this party. It kept him sharp and alert where the shadows smudged beneath seemed to suggest he needed a good night’s sleep. Silanos offered a bow to whom he hoped might be a new acquaintance.
“Lord Silanos Of Colchis”he said, glancing around to see if he could spot anyone that the blonde might be with. “You’ll forgive me being so bold as to ask who you might be, my lady?”

To say that Nana loved court would be plainly stating the obvious. The wine, the gossip, the dresses? All things the Leventi girl took great pleasure in. Yet, even court had its downsides, the largest of which being the formality of it all.
Any attempts that Evelli and Georgios had made on raising a perfect little model of what young lady should be was lost on Nana. Her will was much too strong for her to conform so easily to the standards expected of her. By all accounts, Nana was nowhere near the most demure of the Leventi stock. That was Selene. And Selene told Nana everything she needed to know about being so prim and proper: it was boring. And Nana was never one to settle on being boring.
So, though the blonde had a great deal of love for the glitz and glamour of court life, she found herself able to express herself much more freely in the sanctuary of smaller parties, held by various minor lords Nana would otherwise not associate with. But, everyone needed a night of debaucherous fun every now and then. Nana perhaps a bit more than others. So, Nana found herself at these sorts of gatherings often.
Keeping her parents off her scent with the pretense of being invited to a dinner party, and insisting on how rude it would be to refuse, Nana had no worry of having to sneak out and possibly get caught in the act, certain to face punishment. Instead, she played perhaps a more dangerous game. Full-out lying to her parents about what she was going to get up to. Yet, she hadn't been caught yet, and it didn't seem like Evelli or Georgios had any reason to investigate just what their fourth daughter was getting into. So, for now, the institution of partying was safe.
It was at one of these parties that Nana found herself now. Surrounded by a sea of familiar faces, Nana sipped coolly at her second cup of wine, the alcohol already lighting a fire in the girl's stomach. Nana had no intentions of staying sober tonight.
Standing at the edge of the room, Nana looked about the crowd for any signs of strangers. Though she often found herself prattling away about any vapid little subject with other ladies in attendance, tonight she felt rather keen on doing a bit of people-watching. Yet, even as the Leventi tried to stay a bit more out of the spotlight than usual, she would find her way into it anyway, what with the way she dressed.
Wearing a vivid, silky saffron-yellow peplos and adorning her wrists with wide, sapphire-studded silver cuffs, the blonde lived up to the reputation of beauty that came from being a Leventi. Though she often wore her hair up at court, tonight she instead opted to pull only a few of her golden tresses back to be secured in place at the back of her head with silver pins, giving her a bit more of a wilder look than would likely be appropriate at court. Yet, she thought she looked rather nice.
And, it seemed, so did someone else. As she looked about the room, making quick progress on the cup in her hand, she found herself suddenly locked in eye contact with a man, no, a boy, she was certain she had never seen before. Being tall, with brilliant blue eyes, and a devilishly handsome face, Nana certainly found this boy to be handsome. The blonde's eyebrows raised in interest as said boy came her way, yet she said nothing, only grinning ever so slightly and continuing to sip away at her wine as he made a beeline for where she stood at the edge of the room.
The young woman couldn't help but let out a giggle as the man reached her proximity and proceeded to give her a deep bow, almost as if they were at court. Though there was a great level of respect amongst the nobility in interaction at these little parties, the mood was much less formal, much more relaxed than a court session would be. Yet, this mystery man amused Nana, and in response, she found herself quickly presenting her hand to him.
"That I shall. Lady Nana of Leventi. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Lord Silanos of Colchis." Her prim smile widened into a playful grin as she gazed upon the Colchian's countenance. "I suppose that explains why I didn't recognize your face." For a moment, the girl's gaze moved from the boy's face and flittered about the room, musing, "Usually, I'd be able to name every person in the room..." But, as quickly as she'd turned her gaze from his sight, she turned her attention back to him as she took another large sip of her wine, before continuing. "So, tell me, Lord Silanos...What is a Colchian such as yourself doing in Vasiliadon?"

Wherever there was a party, be it from the marginalized groups or from the nobles, it was likely to see the Bard of Phossis. He was known for his musical prowess, which was sought after, and also that he rarely turned down an offer. His love for life and for parties was contagious.
That was how he meet Silanos. They frequented the same places, and quickly became friends, mostly because Hesiodos knew how to make a good party, and where to find the best drugs. The noble often amused him, though, as he often tried to outdrink him, and often failed. Still, he appreciated him a lot.
He took a moment from the music to rest and have a cup of wine or maybe three, when the lord approached him, “Mmm?”, he turned his head to see where he was pointing, “Her? Or her twin sister beside her?”, he said with a chuckle, “She’s one of the ladies invited to the party… I don’t know her, though, nor have slept with her. You’re going to try to do both, aren’t you?”, he said without a hint of shame, chuckling into the cup of wine before taking a long drink from it.
At his request, he only nodded. He was always happy to play music, especially for things like this; he was all about people getting to know each other this way, “As you wish, my Lord”, and with that, he drained the cup in one go and took his lyre. He stretched his fingers and then began to pluck on the strings.
The style of this song was frenzied, enthusiastic, purely Dionysian. It was a song you could dance to, and indeed, people caught up and began to dance. Hesiodos bobbed his head and smiled widely, then began to sing happily. He was enjoying himself, and would be damn sure that everyone else would do it as well.

Sil just grinned at Hesiodos in response to the man’s question. It might be a little presumptuous to assume the latter was an option, but the Lord was a great believer in confidence. “Mayhaps you are you are losing your touch then” he said, already backing away from the bard, before he turned to find the beauty in yellow once again.
She’d seen him looking, that much was clear, but Silanos was unapologetic in his attention, and kept his eyes on her as he drew nearer,. She was even fairer close up, he decided as he stood from an exaggerated bow. And he was almost sure it wasn’t the wine making him think so.
“Lady Nana” he echoed, as if testing the name on his tongue. Taking her hadn within his own, he dropped a kiss upon it and then held on a little longer than was proper before letting go.. “Of..Leventi”
He may not have been Taengean born and bred, but even Silanos had heard enough to know that the House of Leventi was famed for producing beautiful daughters. And here was one.
“The pleasure must be mine then” he amended, matching her grin as she went on. Of course, she would know most of these people, but perhaps he had the advantage of being someone new at his disposal? When her eyes returned to him, Sil was ready to trot out the official line for his sojourn to Taengea.
“Oh, I’m mostly studying the arts” he said, vaguely. “Taengea is full of beautiful things it seems.” His gaze drifted rather rakishly over her as he spoke, before coming back to settle upon her face. Which was just as pleasing. “And you know, improving relations between our Kingdoms. You may consider me an ambassador for Colchis, and our meeting a highly important cultural experience for you”
He nodded as if to add weight to his declaration, and cast a quick glance over his shoulder to where Hesiodos had begun playing, tipping the man a wink “I thought perhaps we might start by you demonstrating some of your local customs, such as dancing?”
He reached out to take her cup of wine, spinning to set it with his own upon the tray of a passing server, before his hand was hovering between them, inviting Nana to take it. In the centre of the room, a chain dance was in progress, and Sil thought it similar enough to others he had seen that he ought to be able to catch up. With a tilt of his head towards the dancers, the lord led the blonde towards the end of the line, catching hold of the girl’s hand before him and turning to wink at Nana as he fell into step with the winding snake of people.
Hesiodos was not the only musician, though the bard’s expert playing could be heard rising above those lesser minstrels as the dancers threaded their way around the room. Nana’s hand was soft in his own, and Silanos was sad to let her go when they finally broke apart from the chain.
He secured more drinks, pressing a cup into her hand and raising his own towards her. “You dance very prettily.” Most everything about her was pretty he mused as he took a deep swallow of wine, letting it soak into his already intoxicated senses. “Who did you come with?” he asked, brows raised. Whoever they were had not seen fit to come and reclaim her yet and that suited the lord just fine. They were clearly an idiot, and he would capitalise on their negligence.

Nana gave the boy a quizzical look as he looked her up and down, not even trying to be subtle. Oh, how she knew his type. Young, dumb, and looking for trouble...usually fun to play with, but certainly not suitable for marriage. But, here they stood, at a secret party, where everyone was drinking and dancing in open defiance of social custom. Any reservations she would have about his demeanour in court meant little to Nana here. And as such, she decided she would humour him.
"Oh, yes, I'm sure you're quite good at that. It seems you've picked quite the right place for a cultural exchange, as well. Court is one thing, but this," she motioned out to the room before them, "is the real Taengea."
Taking another large sip of her goblet, the Leventi gave her Colchian companion a fiery grin. "I only hope you can keep up. From what I've been told of Colchis, your people are not exactly known for their parties. But yes, I'd love to." She let out a giggle, handing Silanos her drink as he reached for it, and following him to the middle of the room, where a gaggle of drunken lords and ladies set about dancing.
Though it would certainly shock her mother to see it, Nana thought nothing of when Silanos' hand came searching for hers, grabbing ahold of it tightly as the two attached themselves to the chain and went about dancing around the room, the chain of nobles resembling that of a snake who'd been struck by lightning. Nana was not particularly fond of this type of dance as well as others, as there was little to do other than follow behind whoever was in front of you, but she did not mind, laughing as she narrowly missed collisions on more than one occasion, moving from side to side as the party rushed around the room and as stragglers joined the chain one by one.
Nana could feel the music in her very soul as the bard went on strumming and slapping the instrument, could feel the rhythm of the song as countless partygoers clapped and stomped the ground in time with the song. This would certainly be a party Nana would remember.
As the song ended and the snake of people dissipated back into clusters of people, Nana and Silanos made their way back to the edge of the room, the Leventi smiling at the Colchian when he brought her back another cup of wine, knocking the edge of hers against his as he raised his own. She giggled, "You are too kind," before taking a long sip from her own cup, letting out a sigh of contentment after.
She couldn't help the laughter that escaped her throat when the foreign lord asked her who she'd come with. This boy obviously knew little about the type of gathering Nana herself often frequented. Searching his eyes to find if he was truly as serious as he seemed, Nana found herself a bit taken aback at how stunningly blue they were. She'd noticed them as soon as they'd locked eyes before, but it hadn't hit her just how mesmerizing they happened to be.
After staring into his eyes for a few seconds longer than what could be deemed normal, Nana blinked, as if in a daze, and flashed her teeth in a grin at him. "Oh, right, I didn't explain. I came alone."
Nana was sure this Colchian's response to that would be oh so amusing.

Sil thought himself more than a little lucky as he looked over the rim of his cup at the blonde girl, catching his breath after the energetic turn around the room, whilst simultaneously wondering at his good fortune. She was fair and fun, which was most definitely his favourite combination, even if he had been known to compromise or one or the other at any given time. Never both though.
Dull girls who were pretty to look at were fine. Fun girls who looked better with the candles blown out, he’d done those too. Finding both things together in one place was a rare triumph though.
Sil squinted a tiny bit, because of course there was always the possiblilty that all that he’d drunk was giving the Lady Nana a little more glow than she might naturally possess, but then he reminded himself that she was a Levennnnti, and that really this was an opportunity for a culturally significant exchange. That he could then write home about. Lowering his cup and blinking those very blue, very bright eyes at her, the young lord looked positively delighted at the announcement that Nana had come alone to the gathering.
“Well aren’t you the little rebel” he said with a grin. “What did you do, steal out of a window? Wait for everyone to go to bed and make your escape? I’m scandalised, truly”
Only he sounded anything but, just gave a laugh and a shake of his head and looked around the room. “ Is that the way of it then? You all slip out secretly and come and misbehave? I am beginning to think I was born to the wrong kingdom”
She hadn’t been wrong when she said Colchis wasn’t known for its parties. Sil however, well he liked to buck the trend, much to the dismay of his family. And this little trip of his...well it had been like one long party, helped along by getting to know the bard who Silanos raised his glass to from across the room. Tipping the cup toward him, the Colchian lord tipped it toward him and surveyed the wine within. It was strong, and he was definitely feeling a little wobbly now.
“So what do you do when you’re not stealing out to come to secret gatherings in the night, Lady Nana? Are you….studious?” He tilted his head and narrowed his gaze a little. “No. you dont strike me as a bookish type. And I don’t think you’re a dancer, despite that dazzling display. Maybe a muse..for some artist. That would work.”
His words were slurring into one another just ever so slightly, eyes a little glassy, and the young lord had taken a half a step forward at some point so he was a breath closer than was considered polite. But then it seemed usual rules didnt apply here, so who was counting?

Nikolias was not an idiot- he knew at least some of the rumors that must circulate around the court about him. 'Surely, at least sometimes, he must indulge in copious amounts of drugs to remain as calm as he does' was his favorite, and usually, the one in which he took the most pride at proving wrong.
Today, the rumor might be closer to the truth than he would have liked, but today, he oddly could have cared less. Perhaps even he was more stressed lately than he realized, and it was a festival, after all....
Besides, he barely knew the lord who was throwing the party, and perhaps it was time he remedied that. If he felt he couldn't be uninhibited while in court, he needed to find somewhere where he could- besides outside, which more often than not stuffed up his head one minute and made him sneeze the next.
While he was not, as a rule, a drug taker, a few glasses of wine were not beyond him, and he was on his third- and considering a fourth- before he realized he saw someone he knew, or more accurately, the niece of someone he knew.
Well, then. Should what happened away from court stay away from court? He and Fotios of Leventi were rivals, but he was Nana's uncle, and as such, Fotios would probably be able to tell Nana's father about this.
A glance at Nana, who appeared to either be very drunk or on her way to getting there, dancing with a man who appeared to be just a breath's space too close had almost convinced him that he should indeed inform someone when it dawned on him that others might question what Nikolias himself had been doing there.
Or not- people could always assume that the rumors about Nikolias were true. Maybe they would anyway.
There was no easy way out of this. He glanced once more at Nana, debating internally whether or not to address her directly. If he kept her secret, perhaps she would keep his. The need for such locations as this one to be used all but proved that too much restriction was stifling for anybody, regardless of a person's rank.
Or was it Nana? What if it wasn't? Maybe three glasses of wine was enough.
He blinked, wondering if his eyes were deceiving him, and it was in that moment that he knew he had to find out for sure. His curiosity had, it seemed, gotten the better of him.
"Nana of Leventi?" He tried not to appear either too threatening- because after all, who was around for him to tell?- or too drunk. But he was not sure if he was succeeding at either.

The Taengean couldn't help but let out a giggle at her Colchian companion's reaction, his expression and words quickly showing how taken aback he was. His proceeding to speak to her in a tone that she read to be an imitation of someone else's chiding, perhaps his mother.
After taking a long sip of her drink, the corners of Nana's mouth pulled into a grin as her eyes locked on his, challenging him to not look away. The thought of watching him squirm left Nana much in the mood to play. "Hmm...Yes, well, I don't think you really are, though. From the look of you, you have a predilection for scandal." The girl raised her eyebrows at him before glancing out at the room before them, taking another sip of her wine before speaking again, "But you would be wrong about the sneaking out. As far as my parents know, I am at a banquet thrown by the Baron of...uhm...Well. It seems I've drawn a blank. You get the point, though," she said, turning back to him with a sparkle in her eye.
Leaning against one of the multiple columns lining the room, the look on Nana's face gave her an air of mischief. "That's usually how it goes, though. Sneaking out through the garden, or waiting until my parents go to bed is often a good bet. They need all the sleep they can get, the two of them. Perhaps you should take a page out of my book for your future escapades."
As the young lord continued to flirt with her, Nana couldn't help the giggles he drew to the surface, the wine certainly taking its effect on her mood. Nana, while not a reserved person, was not eager to mingle with just anyone. But the feeling of adoration that came with flirtation was something Nana would seldom turn down, especially from such a handsome young Colchian.
His proceeding to ask her intently on what pursuits she enjoyed left Nana thinking on just what it was she actually did with her time. When she was at home, she spent a great deal of time preening in front of a mirror, or going out to the markets, but that would sound much too vain...Then it came to her.
"I like to ride," she said quickly, suddenly becoming aware of the quickly dwindling distance that Silanos seemed to be eagerly closing, shying away just a bit as she clarified, "Horses."
However, any enjoyment Nana was feeling upon being here was quickly nipped in the bud by the sound of a male voice calling out her name. Quickly whipping her head around to find just who had called her, she felt a mild shock of terror come over her to find that the man who had spotted her was none other than Lord Nikolias of Condos. Great.
Looking at him wide-eyed, Nana was very aware there was little she could do other than respond to his call. Perhaps with enough sweet talk, she could get her way out of trouble, but if she just ignored him, gods know he would go to her father, or worse, Uncle Fotios. Any of the Condos would certainly love to see one of the Leventis in trouble. At least, that was what she was taught to believe.
Putting on a smile that belied the feeling of fear that Nana felt, she turned to her companion and quickly whispered, "Stay here," before handing him her glass of wine and walking over to where Lord Nikolias stood, smoothing out her skirt as she walked.
With a saccharine voice, Nana addressed him. "Lord Nikolias, what a surprise to see you here. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

From the look of you, you have a predilection for scandal." Nikolias hadn't exactly been prepared to be asked what he was doing here, which was the point of coming here in the first place. Still, he was not exactly surprised that she would want to know, whether possibly for her own ends or no.
"Relative obscurity, Lady Nana," He answered bluntly with an ironic smile- the kind that said he suspected she was here for relatively the same reason. "What happens away from court stays away from court, hmmm?" He could very well use this information against her at a later date, and he suspected she might know it, but with that said, it was in both of their best interests that the information be kept secret for now. He gave her a conspiratorial wink that in the right circumstances- if she had not been from a rival house of his- could have almost been considered to be friendly. In a way, it was- for he had not yet recognized anyone else present, so it might very well remain their secret.
"Festival occasion though it is today, it would likely do no good for either of our reputations if it were to be known that we were seen here."
Though he suspected that Fotios already knew of the rumors concerning Nikolias and his possible use of drugs to hopefully remain as calm as possible under most stresses, to know of his niece's exploits might very well surprise him indeed. Or not, depending on how well Fotios knew his niece, but still.
"Still, everyone deserves at least a little fun without being found out. Even nobility such as ourselves. Your secret is safe."
Though I'm not quite sure I'd feel the same way if you were my own daughter, he couldn't resist thinking, though he didn't say it aloud.
Unsure for the moment what substance offered at the party he should try next, he nonetheless moved far enough away that Nana would hopefully no longer feel that she might be being observed.

Silanos was not at all phased by the strong eye contact that the young woman offered, indeed his grin just widened, and dimmed to a self satisfied-smirk when she let her attention shift to the room around them. He was almost disappointed when she said she hadn’t, in fact, snuck out to attend this event: girls who broke rules were another favourite, but it wasn't long before Lady Nana had reestablished her credentials in such things.
“Perhaps I should” he replied to her suggestion he took a page from her book, flashing her a quick, cat-like smile. “Perhaps you can show me, we could sneak out right now for practice?”
You know, like sneak out to the gardens and make the most of this opportunity for cultural exchange. He didn’t feel like he needed to add that level of detail, Lady Nana seemed smart enough to deduce it for herself. He wondered idly what time it was, having lost track somewhere after the sixth or seventh glass of wine. Not that it mattered much, it would still be balmy enough outside.
If her comment about her favoured pastime had him snort a little into his cup of wine, then Silanos was quick to try and temper his reaction, though there was a mischievous gleam in his gaze that did not fade. “Well this is delightful. Something else we could both enjoy together” He thought he could dimly recall something something about the Leventi House and horses, but it was more fun to consider the other meanings that could be taken from her words.
It all seemed very promising, and Silanos was a little confused when the girl’s demeanour changed. He was usually pretty good at reading people when he wanted to, and couldn’t figure out what had happened. When she pushed her glass into his hand and bid him stay put, he gave a nod, wondering if maybe he was more drunk than he thought. But he would wait.
Following the girl with his gaze, he frowned a little as she approached a much older man and the two shared a few words. He looked old enough to be her father, Sil thought contemptuously as he observed their interaction. He’d be more than a little offended if he’d been brushed off in favour of that.
And if there were something that the young Valaoritis Lord could not boast as one of his many virtues, it was patience, so when the older man appeared to drift away from the girl in yellow, Sil was quick to refresh their drinks and move over to her side.
“Who invited Grandpa?” he murmured close to her ear as he held out the new drink. His breath was warm where it ghosted over her skin, heavy with wine. The Colchian clearly had not been holding back in his enjoyment of the provided beverages. He eyed her questioningly “Was I boring you or….”

Nana found little humor in the Condos man's answer to her rhetorical question. But, of course, she felt more than justified. If he had not called her, Nana most likely would not have even noticed that Nikolias was in attendance. She was far too busy with her overeager Colchian to pay attention to anything else.
Yet, that did not stop her from keeping the same plastered smile on her face, hoping that he would finish whatever it was he had to say and be on his way. As much as she was raised on rules of propriety, Nana was not at court, and she did not enjoy being held to the same standards.
As the man spoke, Nana kept quiet, only thinking to herself how asinine the man sounded, specifically when he spoke of keeping a low profile when he'd forfeited hers with his loud mouth. But perhaps she could cut him a break. Perhaps Lord Nikolias was a lightweight. Nana couldn't see how that would help the Condos image as the best wine-producers in the kingdom, but she wouldn't get into that with him, though she had the feeling Uncle Fotios would jump at the chance.
When the Condos finished his little speech, Nana gave a genuine smile upon being told that he would not rat on her. Though, if she had been put in a situation where he did give her secret away, it would not take long for her to spill what she'd found out to Uncle Fotios, who could certainly use the information of Lord Condos' debauchery to the Leventis' advantage. For now, though, there was no need.
"Thank you for your discretion, Lord Nikolias. Rest assured, I shall not disclose anything on my part, either," nodding to him as he then walked away, and taking a breath before her not-forgotten companion sauntered over and placed himself perhaps a bit closer than what was proper, even at an event like this. As the hairs stood up on the back of her neck from his sudden arrival, Nana shifted ever so slightly before taking the drink the young lord held out for her, quickly taking a sip before taking ahold of the man's arm, letting out a bit of a chuckle as she said, "No, of course not. I'll explain in a moment," before leading him as far away from the Condos lord as possible.
Only after hiding behind a rather large column at the edge of the room did Nana dare to speak of the man, as a precaution. "You spoke of your desire for cultural exchange. Perhaps I could teach you a little. That man, the one you called Grandpa, is Nikolias of the royal house of Condos. Head of their house, which also happens, " she leaned over to whisper in the Colchian's ear, "to be the house we most dislike."
Leaning back against the column behind her, she grinned ever so slightly. "For that matter, the goblet you're holding is full of their wine," she said, taking a sip herself, before continuing, "So, you see, there was no way for me to ignore him. Or else, my windows would be guarded," she said, raising her eyebrows as she locked eyes with him.
Even in his drunken state, the intensity of the Colchian's stare left the Leventi with the feeling of butterflies, and worrying that a blush would soon begin to smatter her cheeks, she quickly sipped down the rest of her glass to hide its true cause, brown eyes staring right back into his own blue with alcohol induced confidence where her own failed.
As she finished, she looked down to her cup with a frown. "Would you look at that...my glass is empty."

Sil happily let Nana steer him over to the edge of the room, glad that he’d got the girl’s attention for himself again. And when she’d tucked them neatly behind a pillar, he braced one hand upon it, so he was naturally leaning into her space a little. When she spoke of the older man she’d been talking to, Sil tipped his head so he could see around the column and gave a brief nod. The name Condos was vaguely familiar but he didn’t really care, smiling lazily when she whispered into his ear. “Local rivalries. How fascinating”
He was more interested in the wine, peering into his cup and giving a nod and then looking appalled at the idea that the girl before him could have her social engagements so stymied. No more sneaking out to come to little soirees like this one?
“That would be unacceptable. You are proving one of my favourite Taengeans so far”
And she was. He was staring into those honey brown eyes, which were really pretty, actually, up close. So was her little snub nose and her lips. He didn’t miss how she was erubescent either and it would have been a heady combination at the best of times, never mind after a skinful of Condos red. It was tempting to let himself tip just that little bit further forward to kiss her, and Silanos wasn’t not thinking about it when she broke their gaze and instead drained her cup. Moment ruined. Well fuck.
He gave a little huff of a laugh and shoved off the pillar so he was standing more upright. The lord’s free hand ran through his hair before his fingers had closed around the chalice she held, over the top of her own. “Shall I go fetch you a new one then?” He waved at a passing servant and handed off the empty cup to replace it with another full one, though he kept it just out of reach, teasingly. Looking rakishly at the Leventi girl, Sil cocked one eyebrow questioningly.
“You sure you want another? You’re looking a little flushed there. Maybe some fresh air would help?”
He tilted his head a little, toward the open archway that led out onto a pretty terrace. There were still people milling about out there, so it wasn’t entirely scandalous though the curve of the smile on the lord’s full lips promised at least a hint of it. “You can tell me more about the people you dislike. Or you know..the ones you do.”

Nana couldn't help the giggle that escaped at the Colchian's apparent boredom with her propaedeutic spiel. In all honesty, she cared little for it herself, yet at this party, there was much to be lost if someone thought to talk and tell of what they saw. Nana certainly made foolish decisions, but she was no fool.
His compliments brought a smile to the Taengean's face, but the look he gave her and the way his arm had boxed her in stirred feelings that she could not deal with sober, and draining her cup seemed the easiest way to remedy the situation. For it was not that Nana disliked this sort of attention, but that even after years of courting, she still found herself becoming sheepish when it came to physicality. If only she was more like Pia...
She was granted a moment of reprieve when the man pulled away for just a moment to replenish her chalice. In that brief moment, the girl shifted so she was standing straighter, taking a breath to try and still her beating heart. And then the brunet turned right back around, and dangled a glass before her, yet as she reached for it, it was quickly raised above her reach.
Not one happy to be parted with her wine, Nana furrowed her eyebrows as she reached, not wanting to look too unladylike by resorting to jumping. Wine was a wonderful drink, yet when spilled, it had the power to ruin silk, and Nana would not stand for it.
Giving the Colchian a knowing look, she raised her eyebrows ever so slightly and said softly, "I'm Taengean, pet." It was in this moment, after the man lowered his hand just a fraction, that Nana was able to take the cup into her hand and quickly brought it down to her mouth, careful to avoid spilling. After a sip, she nodded in agreement.
"Yes, that sounds lovely. I am feeling a bit warm, anyway."
Quickly, the girl pulled closer to Silanos to gently take ahold of his arm as the two then made their way through the archway into the open air. Letting out a laugh at the young man's suggestion, Nana took another sip. "I don't know that that's quite a good idea, there are too many to name..." Though, Nana was a master of intuition, quickly divining what the blue-eyed boy was getting at, and deciding to play along. But first, she would tease a bit.
"I suppose, in terms of those I like, well... Princess Gianna is quite nice. And my sister, Olympia, of course. Oh, and Basilides, our family trader," she said with a grin, not paying any attention to what sort of look the foreigner might have been giving at her tease, before turning her gaze to rest on him and murmuring, "And I must say, you are proving to be one of my favourite Colchians so far."
As she once again held his gaze, she felt a strong sense of power come over her, once again taking a sip from her drink before licking her lips...
"Shall we stand here all night, or shall we find a bit of privacy?"

"Shall we stand here all night, or shall we find a bit of privacy?"
Silanos let out a loud, delighted laugh at the girl’s answer to his question. “Yes you are” he said, with no small amount of appreciation. “ As I said, I think I was born to the wrong kingdom entirely.” He relinquished the wine back to its demanding mistress, his goal achieved anyway when the blonde agreed to take a turn outside with him. And his little conversational gambit paid off too, after he listened to a few names that meant nothing to him.
The night air, whilst refreshing, had done little to clear his head. Rather the wine seemed to have hit him all in a rush, unless it was some late acting effect of the little vial he downed. Either way, he felt warm and his head a little muzzy as the pair stepped out on the terrace.
There were a few others milling about, laughing quietly in their own groups, drinking and taking advantage of the balmy night air to let the party spill easily from inside to out. Flaming torches cast just enough light to flatter, and to leave more shadowed recesses amongst the columns for those who felt like being more..secluded in their interactions.
As Nana continued to tease, Sil canted his head to the side and waited expectantly, doing nothing to keep the impatient expression from his face, only to give a self satisfied nod at the end as if she’d only spoken what he’d been expecting. “Glad we got that cleared up” he muttered, for he’d become a little distracted by the way she was looking at him, and her next words didn’t help with that at all.
‘Shall we stand here all night, or shall we find a bit of privacy?’
The young man grinned then, wicked and full of promise, offering her his hand to take. “ I mean, who am I to deny a lady what she wants?” he replied, already tugging lightly on her hand to draw her away from the light and the chatter. They had only to take a few steps along the terrace to find themselves shielded from the party proper, tucked behind a stone column, though the marble was hidden by the passiflora blooms that all but drowned it. Silanos reached out to pull one of the white star shaped flowers free, tucking it behind Nana’s ear so he could let his hand linger there, fingers brushing ever so lightly down the side of her throat. In the dark and umbra, his eyes and teeth flashed brightly and his breath was berry wine and spice as he leant in close.
“Private enough for you?” Sil didn’t wait for an answer, tilting his head down so he could press his lips to hers, stealing the kiss that he’d wanted inside, and a little bit more too, because, hey, why the hell not? The fingers that had been trailing down her neck wrapped gently around the back of it now, drawing her up closer. He was enamoured with this cultural exchange, it would seem.

Giggling at his refusal to hide his impatience, Nana was quick to take the hand Silanos offered, quickly downing her drink as she was pulled along. As everyone knew, Nana had always placed a great importance on keeping her gowns immaculate, and she would not let a fleeting dalliance ruin this one. A great deal of saffron had gone into the making of it, after all, and as far as she was concerned, even with Sil's charms, no man was worth such a waste.
As they neared their hiding place, Nana set her goblet down on a nearby rail, following as she was speedily guided behind a large pillar, obscured from public view not only by the cover of night, but by the passionflowers that so stubbornly resolved to absolutely cover the column, perfuming the alcove with the sweet smell of vanilla, as well as providing Silanos a chance to play at romance.
Nana, all too familiar with this move, would normally find herself profoundly underwhelmed by the act of a man tucking a flower behind her ear, yet Silanos was quite different than her usual suitor. Though Nana herself was quite the firecracker, through the years her mother had failed to find a suitor for the girl that was not thoroughly boring or easily scared off. Silanos, on the other hand, seemed to know little to nothing about the Taengean court, taking his voyage to Vasiliadon as an opportunity to fully let loose. It seemed that perhaps Nana was not the only one with a strict family. And yet, Silanos paid no heed to any social niceties that would be paramount at the Palati, a fact Nana enjoyed greatly.
Letting out a sigh as the Colchian's fingers whispered over her skin, Nana looked at her boy toy through half-lidded eyes, letting out a chuckle at his words before meeting him wholeheartedly when his lips crashed against her own. As his hand slipped behind her head to support her neck and bring her closer, Nana rested her hands on the man's shoulders, closing the space between them in a moment of desire.
In the absence of distance between the two, Nana could feel that he was warm. Warmer than she'd remembered any other man being, though, for that matter, it had been a while since she'd had such a passionate encounter. For him, perhaps, it was just the wine, but Nana felt in that instant, even in the cool night air, the heat of a thousand suns. And yet, the thought of being enveloped in such a blaze was, at this moment, intoxicating to her.
It didn't take the Leventi very long to pull back from the kiss, almost breathless from how long it seemed to her to last. Breathily, she shot back, "Are all Colchians this intense, or is this just you?," before her better judgement left her once again and she reached a hand up to rest behind his head, in the very same way he had, and pulled him down to meet her lips once again, a bit bolder. Though it was clear this cultural exchange was little more than an exchange of fluids, Nana did not mind in the least.
