The earlier hint from the Egyptian general suggested that he might be more amenable to a more detailed conversation once they were away from the prying ears of the others in the room. Most notably, Irakles, who had been hovering nearby for the entirety of the man’s visit to the court. Of course, it was also Irakles who seemed to be causing the greatest amount of irritation to the visitor. He had already expressed his frustration that no one would explain why he could not possibly see the King. If there was a concern that this man might be antagonistic, they certainly weren’t putting their best foot forward in that regard. Perhaps, this situation could still be salvaged. Obviously the current tack wasn’t working.
The opportunity came when the general invited Imma of Leventi to walk with him, as the other woman in the group, she was suggested as a companion to make sure that the younger woman wouldn’t be taken advantage of by the foreign man. Imeeya steered the group towards the garden where they would have a bit more privacy. Imeeya was too invested in the possibility that she might be able to rectify the situation with Osorsen, that she didn’t stop to consider what it might look like for the two women to be wandering off with the General without their proper escorts.
Once they reached the relative quiet of the gardens, Imeeya took the opportunity to steer the conversation in a more political direction, largely ignoring the young Leventi woman. Although she knew Imma wasn’t unintellegent and might be able to follow the implications of the conversation she was having, she also didn’t have time to explain her thoughts to the young woman. There was no telling if Irakles might attempt to track Osorsen back down and return him to the gathering. “I’d like to apologize for how you’ve been treated this evening Sidar. Although I can’t speak on behalf of any of the Taengeans, being from Colchis myself,” Imeeya began with an apologetic tone, hoping that would help to improve his impression of Greece. “Were you to visit my home, I can assure you that you would not be met with such an insulting greeting.” Imeeya could only wish that Osorsen might trust that she had good intentions in bringing such things up.

He'd asked to escort the young women away from the main group to give himself time to think, assuming that between the two of them their prattle would entertain one another. There was so much awry with this invitation, this absent king, the one who called himself a prince in his place. No one seemed to truly know why he had been asked here from the whispers he'd picked up, and it had him on high alert. The older blonde had steered them towards a garden and for that he was grateful, the press of the Greeks around them had him anxious, on high alert for a sneak attack.
It took him a moment to register that he was being addressed, but her comment about being Colchian brought his attention fully to the woman at his side. Interesting. What was her angle then, to undermine the Taengean court in such a way as subtle as it was.
"It has indeed been a shock. To be invited for council by a king and greeted by a prince with no indication of why my presence was requested."
Osorsen looked down to Imeeya with a serious gaze, sizing her up and calculating ad he remembered her cleverness from indoors. Perhaps she was trying to prove the strength of her kingdom instead of this one, but these were not comments innocently made. These had meaning behind them.
"Perhaps, you could enlighten me? I had heard good things about the new king, why then does he hide so?"

Imeeya had only hoped that she might provide a better welcome to the General than had been provided by Prince Irakles. If the concern was war, as Vangelis had said, then it only made sense that she should do whatever it took to ensure that the man did not come across with a bad impression of the Greeks in general. Clearly Osorsen was a smart man, one did not become a general without a head for strategy. He had to have noticed that something was wrong.
So Imeeya was going to make sure that he was not lied to any longer. “I have to admit, I have no knowledge of why you were invited to Taengea. This is not a topic on which I have heard anyone speak.” Imeeya started out confident enough. That information was not secret. Or at least it was no secret that she had no great insight into the inner workings of the Taengean government. However the question of where the king was, that one was a bit more of a delicate situation.
“From my own interactions with him, I would agree that the king seems to be a good man. I can assure you that he’s not hiding,” Imeeya started, that much was true, but it seemed certain to lead to follow up questions. She didn’t wish to lie to the foreign visitor, but now she was into information that wasn’t supposed to be shared with outsiders. It was Taengea’s mess. But at the same time, it was also information that was public knowledge to everyone at the gathering. How insulted would he feel to know that everyone knew about the King’s arrest and yet no one was willing to say a thing? “Unfortunately, the king couldn’t make it to tonight’s gathering. He was arrested on charges that I don’t believe to be true.”
There, she had said it and there was no taking it back now. Imeeya wished she could be certain about her decision, as she so often was. But this felt different, she had been so convinced it was the right thing to do up until she had said the words, and now she found herself second-guessing her action. It wasn’t often that Imeeya questioned her own decisions after she had already acted on them, and she was finding it a very unpleasant sensation indeed.

He wasn't surprised when she said she didn't know why he'd been invited here. A foreign noblewoman no doubt was not privy to the secret inner workings of a court not her own. Instead of speaking so and begging her pardon for pressing, he allowed her to continue and there his interest was piqued. She had met the king, and now told him that he was not in hiding. Where was he then? Somewhere disguised at the party to see how the Egyptians would conduct themselves? Watching from afar behind a screen before making a grand entrance?
On instinct Osorsen glanced up and around him, as if expecting some sort of hidden chamber to be revealed. His search halted and his dark gaze turned instantly back to Imeeya as she instead spoke more than she should have. A king under arrest, on charges that were suspected false. The thrill of finding an enemy's weakness took hold for a moment, and he felt a bit of a smile spread over his lips before he caught hold of it and reason came to play.
If the king was arrested under false charges, whatever he had been called here to do was no longer the purpose of his visit. It was no longer safe for him and his men to be here, not if the government was undermined and crumbling around them. For this they would need an army he did not have, and he had to get his men away from this place sooner than later.
"Thank you for your honesty and candor, Lady Imeeya."
Drawing their progress to a halt, Osorsen gave her a bow and pressed a kiss to the back of her hand before straightening and walking away. There was no more time for formalities and familiarities. He had to find his advisor and work out the best way for them to leave. Perhaps under the cover of night once they had returned to their ship. Instead of returning for a council, they would sail home to Egypt and bear the news of weakness to the greater armies. Try seeing Iahotep stop him if he could finally take Greece for himself.
