The Temple of Roma, the grandest sanctuary in the capital, serves as a testament not only to Roma's might, but to its divine favour. The colossal portico, framed by towering columns of polished white marble, welcomes all who approach with a sense of awe. As they ascend the wide steps towards the temple doors, visitors are greeted with the faces of the gods looming down from the impressive statues that line the entryway. Inside, intricate frescoes of Roma's past conquests and triumphs adorn the walls, each scene vivid with colour and gilded accents, while the floor beneath is an exquisite mosaic of geometric patterns. The ceiling is painted in a deep cerulean blue, decorated with carved golden stars to mirror the heavens, and the scent of incense wafts through the air, mixing with the faint murmurs of prayers as offerings are made in the name of the gods. The temple is not just a symbol of the gods, but a symbol of Roma itself, and the people who find themselves here are often loaded not with selfish wants, but with petitions for the greater good of all.
